Advocacy & Safety - The City (San Diego) does listen, and help.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

While I was away, I recieved this email:

Mr. Karstens,

I would like to inform you that your request to replace the missing bicycle signs on Harbor Dr. have been approved, and will be installed within 90 days. If this matter has not been addressed in this time frame, please contact "street division" at XXX-XXX-XXXX, with reference No. XXXX
If you have any questions please contact XXXXXX

Thank you,
xxxx xxxxxxxxx

Please excuse the X's, as the email was between my self and another. However, I'm impressed so far with what has occured. I had an issue, I contacted the police, they directed me to the appropriate department, that department heard my concern, checked it out, asked for more information, up on reciept of that info, they have responded, and have said they will take action.

I feel that my tax dollars are being well spent, minus the Charger tickette dealeo.

The sooner the Chargers leave San Diego, the sooner the public will realize that we do not really need them.

Good job! Which department did you contact? I need to contact the city to request a street sweeper to clear the roads through Santa Luz (Camino Del Sur). A few rides ago I had to get of my bike and remove what seemed to be a 10-15 pound rock that was in the road. I feared for other riders as well as motorists hitting and doing major damage to health and or property. The rest of the way in the bike lane is covered in gravel/glass/construction debris. Your help would be appreciated.

Your city's Department of Public Works should be able to take care of this for you.

I agree so much it hurts.

Follow up note.

Yesterday, I was in the duty truck, and guess what:

New signs, and new sign post!

How awesome is that?

Now, time for driver education.

Next week, I'm going to hand out flyers.
