I staged up in the front ,and as the race started we had a 2 mile neutral zone i led that out then moved to 2cd position.I let a few other riders move in front to stay so i was out of the wind but i stayed close .The pace picked up to around 25mph and stayed there till the first hill then i moved up to the front i kept the pace around 20mph and looked back and saw some having trouble so i picked it up just a little more then dropped in behind a wheel , the pace stayed high then we come to the second climb, there was an attack and i went with the group of 8 or 9 we hurt the field with that one so we increased the pace again and stayed there for a while then we shelled off 3 more riders which left 6 of us . we held the pace up in the mid twenties to keep the gap ,at this point they were out of sight. After a few miles while going into a turn one of the guys gets a flat and wishes us luck ,not sure where he ended but i never saw him again good thing he looked strong. So now there is a 5 man breakaway ,we work together and talk a bit about what we should do ,so we decide to stay together up the hills with no attacks and work together on the flats to keep the break , this worked out nice but it was still a hard pace .I kept my pulls short and as we get closer to the end i start executing a plan to make them work harder than me and save up if there is a sprint finish. We get down to the last turn and two guys start for the line but its still a long way for that so i tuck in and hold their wheel ,then they slow so i start my sprint and hold on for the win ,i beat the closest guy by a 1/2 bike this was only my 2cd race and i think i like the kind of torture .

By the way, the abbreviation for second is 2nd, not 2cd. But if you keep finishing 1st, you probably won't need to care about that...

until he starts talking about his 2nd 1st place or 2nd racing season, or his 2nd flat in a race. It can get bad.

Anyways, that sounds like an epic race and chances are i'll be starting up next year.

Nice, keep it up and hopefully you'll be a 4 in no time.

Once you learn what your limits are on the hills, you can really hurt the field :)

thanks everyone , the race was 49 miles with lots of rollers and 2 larger hills not really a climb but bigger than a roller,it was a fun race and to have my tactics work like that is priceless.,i think i will stay in the cat 5 field till they throw me out maybe i can enjoy a few wins there.btw im 43 so this is just for fun im too old to start racing really.
