Northeast - Any Cyclocross Events in the Northeast?

I had a conversation with a LBS owner the other day while browsing for 'cross bikes, and he told me how they just never caught on here in LI. Understandable with the lack of dirt trails and off road areas.

But it got me wondering where the nearest events are held. I'm curious about seeing it in person and would love to attend one. If not on LI, are there any in Westchester or Orange County? I also have family up in North Hampton, MA, so if there are any to see there I could make a weekend out of it.

I searched, and the Northeast forum barely has anything on cyclorcross in general.
I've been wanting to check out some entry level bikes from Kona or Surly or Redline, but only Kona has dealers here and none stock 'cross bikes.

In Rochester, NY on Sunday October 18 and Saturday November 1. Both are sanctioned by USA Cycling.

I understand Long Island, but I'm surprised that the Northeast in general doesn't have many 'cross events.

Not much in Westchester that I'm aware of, but I don't ride cross so maybe it does exist here. There certainly are trails.

There are however events close by in NJ. I went to a race last year that was part of the state series. Did you check bikereg.com? If there isn't much there now, there should be soon as the season begins.

there used to be a race in southampton each year. Doesn't look like they are having it this year.

check Beacon.com (i think) or google beacon bicycle shops, nj. they were co-sponser of santioned/classified events here in cumberland county, nj last year.
interesting sport, never even knew about it before this event!
