Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
i've never ridden in a group before and i've never had to keep pace with a large group, so i'm a little on the apprehensive side, but i'm willing to give it a shot for fun.
i can't really figure out if this is a casual group ride or a race.
It's a "charity ride". (This ride is sponsored by the Pecan City Pedalers with benefits going to the Education Center at "The Parks at Chehaw"). Probably a few hundred cyclists of varying abilities on all kinds of bikes. Not reallly a group ride. Some people show and plan to ride as a group of 3 or 4 or whatever. Some folks show up and ride alone or with anyone who would like some company for all or part of the ride.
Did you read the ride description?
"The Nut Roll is a fully-supported event starting from the Parks at Chehaw. Each ride option, 30, 46, 62, and 102 miles, is a progressive loop that takes you through scenic country areas that are mostly flat with just a few rolling hills and then returns you to the Park. The 102-mile loop will challenge you with several hills."
Sounds like a lot of fun.
just wasn't sure about what kind of pace or if this is a ride where i need to be a lot faster than i am now, lol.
Everyone rides at their own pace. Definitely not a race.
