Recreational & Family - Which Bike Would You Rather Have... 3 choices?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Narrowed it down to these 3...they all seem pretty similar in ride/feel/components. Which would you rather have?

Specialized Sirrus ($500) - comes in Gloss White, Gloss Black, Blue
Gary Fisher Wingra ($520) - comes in Metallic Black
Trek 7.2fx ($490) - comes in Gold, Blue

I am buying this bike for casual rides, FITNESS (main thing), I want it to be fairly quick, reliable, etc.....

Depends, the sirrus is much more road oriented, won't fit beefy tires.
The 7.2 can do ~700x35 tires + fenders.
The wingra is nice, not sure about fenders/tires.
Honestly hybrids in this range are all about the same.
Look into the Giant FCR3 as well, and the Kona Dew.

Ride them, try and get atleast 15 mins on them, then choose.
Component wise you'll be back and forth and never pick one, gotta go by fit.

Specialized seemed a little pricey for the components, the wingra not so much, giant and trek look about right.

The FCR3 and Sirrus look the best in my opinion, but looks are on the bottom of the list on choosing a bike, IMO.
I chose a 7.3fx, if I bought another it'd either be a Kona Dew Plus or Giant FCR 2 or 3.

Oh, one of the coolest in this range is the Jamis Coda. That is one sexy bike.

I test drove the Wingra today...gotta say, VERY impressed w/ it. More so than the Specialized & especially the Trek.. Even the salesmen said the Wingra was better than the 7.3fx, which was $120 more than the Gary Fisher.

Trek 7.2fx ($490) - comes in Gold, Blue
I ride a Fuji Cambridge that I bought on sale four years ago. However, I have gotten familiar with Trek since then, as my bicylce friend rides a Trek. I think that you would do just fine on the Trek.

don't you think the 7.2fx is a step down from the Wingra & on top of that, the color choices for the 7.2fx SUCK. gold is ugly & the blue looks like a kids bike.

Sounds like you've already crossed the Trek off your list. :)

It's a toss up for me over the Wingra or Sirrus, but if you've already tested both and prefer the Wingra then that's probably your best pick.

+1 for the Coda (http://www.jamisbikes.com/usa/thebikes/street/index.html). We sell them at the shop I work at. Awesome bikes.
