It's not often that I get to post about a milestone. It's even rarer that I get to post about two.

The first one is probably no biggie for most of you but it is for me. This weekend I turned 1000 miles on the odometer. Since I started riding in earnest in mid June I'm pretty pleased with that number.

Even better is that I tipped the scale at 228 lbs yesterday. At the first of the year I was over 270 so I'm pretty happy about it. I was well over 250 when had started riding the bike. I wish I had paid more attention and written that down someplace. When I started riding I had set 230 as a nice goal to reach this year. Now I'm thinking 220 is nice and 210 is very doable.

And unlike a gym, I'm having a great time doing this.

Nice job on the first 1,000. Now, HTFU, stay away from chips, get on you bike and get to 200 lbs by Thanksgiving.:D

By my calculations, your 1000 miles is 4000 miles a year. Nothing wrong with that. And great going on the weight. My friend started at 275 and has lost a ton (well, not literally) of weight in about 15 months -- all with bike riding and just watching his diet. Keep it up and keep us posted.

While 1000 miles in 3 months may seem modest to some of the avid cyclists on this forum, it is more than what many of us do. Very good!

And that's a very significant weight loss over a short time too.

Great job - two significant accomplishments.
I wish I could loose weight that fast - mine just seems to stick around.

Congratulations on the mileage, the decrease in gross displacement, and the enjoyment you have found while getting it all done. Not just everyone has the self discipline and intestinal fortitude to do what you have done!
