Are any of you planning on participating in the Tour de Foothills. I live in Upland and I am hoping that I will be able to do this ride. I don't think that this is a very big event, but I was interested if anyone from bf was going to be there.

Myself and a few others from Claremont are planning to ride it. Look for the group with Coates Cyclery jerseys.
I just typed jersies and couldn't figure out what I did wrong.

Oh you are so WRONG! I thought the same so never planned on it. Last year I jusmped in my truck along with my pump figuring I'd drive a lil unplanned support. I was amazed at how many riders were there. Then the group took off across Foothil BLVD with a police escort. They took up just about the entire road with the cops. I followed the riders through the entire course. The metric distance(?) is a good one. Plenty of hills and lots of tired looking riders. Especially when they arrive at Baldy Rd. I parked along the side and cheered them on! It was fun even from the roadside!:D

Fred, how in the hell does one do that? Hope it doesn't hurt too much.
How have you been lately?

Plus, Beanz has been secretly training for his first double century. I checked the registered riders list for the Knoxville Double (out of Vacaville) and didn't see his name, so I figure he entered under another name, just so I'd be surprised when he showed up at the start!
Yeah, I know his real names isn't "Beanz" but I checked that too . . .

We haven't pre-registered and are hoping to register at the start tomorrow. The website states first 700 riders get a t-shirt and are able to enjoy post-ride festivities, lunch, music, etc. In past years, has the event filled up? Should I plan on showing up right at 6am to register?
Also, the website lists 7am as a start for the 100k, 9am for the 50k. What's the atmosphere, pretty laid back, or should we plan on a strict 7am start?
Thanks for the advice.

I arrived last year about 30 mins early. Wasn't very crowded but was by the start of the ride. I believe the later event riders showed up a little later. Not sure if they had promised shirts though. Could be different since they are this year. Was a mass start. I don't think there were anywhere near 700 when I arrived.
But usually in rides offering dfferent lengths, the short distance riders get back early and eat will the good stuff leaving those that deserved it, nothing!:p...Kidding, still mad cause on the first PalmSprings reide, we did the century. The 25 mile riders were back early and ate everything leaving us only M&M's for a postride meal!........not even peanut!:(
Last year there seemed to be plenty of food going around after the ride!
The group started pretty fast, good ride, nice terrain. Plenty of fast guys. Lots of good riders. I know a few that place well on the Bear, BA and the Death Ride. Not a ride that one needs to worry about riding around a bunch of Freds!:D

BTW, plsan on a strict 7 am start. Mass start wiht police escort and Sag vehicle. If you're late, you'll be playing catch up to the support and gang. Lat year Cycling Connection played Marshal. Some riders were support sweep riders with mech aid and some supplies. If you're far behind, I wouldn't think you should expect them to wait for you too long.:D Of course your'e in a group of Coates, might have your own mechanics!:p

I haven't registered yet either. I kept on planning to register but never got around to it. A few of us from the UHS Cycling Club are riding. I think I'll show up a little before 6.
