yeah, so uh, i ordered this frameset. i imagine the guy at the shop wasn't lying when he said the fork came with it, right? anyway, i'm wondering if the steerer tube is going to need to be cut, or if surly/qbp is going to deliver it already cut.

what'd anyone here with experience with surly have, when they first got their frame?

Dunno, but I'm getting ready to order a Steamroller. Usually forks come uncut but that's nothing a hacksaw and file can't remedy.

craw!!! can an inept guy like me do such a thing without wrecking it? what're the potential pitfalls?

perhaps i'll have the hamfisted apes at the lbs do it fo' me.

If you get the headset and fork installed at a bike shop, you can have them cut it... otherwise a cheap little pipe cutter will give you a good clean cut... Home Depot has pipe cutters for as little as... uhh.. like 10 or 15 bucks.

I had the bike shop cut mine. I love my bike. I just got back from my first ride of the year. It's 39 degrees outside, and threatening to get warmer.
NO MORE TRAINER TIME!!!!!!!! I hate the basement!
