hi! thanks for asking!! I was too pooped to party last night and never made it on to update.

I interviewed with three people in the department. My old boss is apparently the executive director (I assumed she was one step down from there in a director seat... so that's even better for me).

The phone interview was pretty laid back, only about 10 questions. one the question was to expand on my skills and experience in 4 specific areas:

web design/development
graphic design
video
flash

I rocked 3 of 4, but video I haven't worked with. I mentioned I'd dabbled but hadn't had an opportunity to work with it professionally. Then, kicked myself for not throwing in something about being versatile, or a quick learner... whatever.

I think it went well, I feel I performed to the best of my ability. Start to finish the phone interview was under a half hour. They said the next step was to review candidates and arrange a face to face (i.e. send me on an airplane ride!)... I hardly think a 20 minute phone interview, resume, and small portfolio is enough to base that decision on... but they're the bosses.

Honestly, the three people I was interviewing with sounded about ready to die. All three explained that they'd just had their first classes start Sept 1 and had been working around the clock and apoligized for not being as on the ball as usual. I'm a pretty dynamic person, I assume they're usually a pretty dynamic team (knowing my old boss lady) but that made the interview seem like a bit of a fizzle to me, seeing as though there wasn't much energy on the other end of the line I didn't have a lot to go off of.

Eh, phone interviews.

So now.. the waiting game!

This is very exciting, Artifice!! I wish you luck! :thumb:

The nice thing is that you are still young and not tied down so relocating to further your career is very, very doable. My fingers are crossed for you lady. PLEASE keep us updated. :)

thanks siu!

Yeah, it has been a bit unsettling for me- I have not been sleeping well. I am apprehensive about the prospect of moving from somewhere I do know I am happy. But, cannot turn down the opportunity to try for something so amazing, I'm very interested in interactive learning and getting a job in the industry is part of the reason I've considered grad school. On one hand, I think it would be easier for me if they did not proceed from here (even though I AM interested)... then the decision would be made for me. ;) Is that horrible thinking?

On the other hand, if they do want to bring me out, I need to do some serious thinking before I potentially waste their time and money (and mine).

You gotta go out there and see what there is. Don't be afraid. Don't get yourself in the position of "what if's". You have an opportunity of a lifetime, go see what it's all about. Do it now while you can. If they are offering you this position it's because they see wonderful things in you that can benefit their company. They think you are worth it, so give it all you got!

And remember.....if this isn't your cup of tea, you can ALWAYS come back.

If they offer you a face to face, take them up. Even if you are very apprehensive about it. The worst that can happen is you get out here, hate Denver, hate the company, and the interview is horrible. But even if that is all the case, at least you'll know and it can help you make better decisions down the road.

Good luck!

Good luck!I feel like if a F2F is offered I feel I have an obligation to be more secure on my feelings of moving. Maybe I need to get over that.

Get over it. They're willing to buy a plane ticket so they can see if you fit with their company, but also to see if you'll be happy in that area. Just because they shell out some money, it doesn't guarantee that you'll be a match.

Agreed - you have nothing to lose by going and checking it out. And yes, this is a good time in life to take some risks; it gets a bit harder as you get older.

Of course it's easy for us to say that - it's natural to be a bit apprehensive on your part. But if it comes to you going for an in-person intrvw, you'll probably know a lot better (from the gut) at that point whether it's the right fit for you. Good Luck!

Yup, you do need to get over it. What if they offer face-to-face interviews for 2 or 3 people? They already know that they aren't going to hire them all - that is the price they are willing to pay. You going to the interview in no way obligates you to take the job. It is a big company, they can afford the couple hundred $$ to meet you in person....

Oh, back to colorado. Oddly enough, the phone rang today- a board member from the sorority I'm alumnae of-- they are looking for some xtra hands in a couple regions and wondered if I was interested. I explained to her my current up in the air situation, that I can't commit to a region at this time.

She happened to have been an advisor out there, and has a few connections and opportunities for me.

Weirdly, it feels like some things are aligning.

All has been quiet from CO since the interview Tuesday. I'm thinking if it was a dead NO I would have heard already. I feel like they are sitting around over coffee debating.

I know they are in a hurry to get someone in the position. Wonder how long it will be until I get wind of "next steps"? Any insight from fooster interviewers?

If they are that big of a hurry to get the position filled, I would have thought you would have heard something by today. Only thing I can think is that they are having a hard time picking the "right" person. And I agree that if you had been "cut", you probably would have heard by now as well.

Try not to let it eat at you over the w/e. Just relax and enjoy it!
