Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Any framebuilders in the NJ/Nyc area that wouldnt mind an apprentice several days a week learning the ropes/ healping out answering emails from customers? I am interested in doing this as a career and would like some experience to see if this is for me or not. I have about 5 years shop experience.
Framebuilders elsewhere feel free to post if you are looking for an apprentice. people on this forum all share a passion and im sure there are people like me all over the country.

There are apprenticeships to be had, I know of one highly respected (and well known) builder who was recently looking for one. He wasn't shopping around looking at anonymous internet posts however. It takes making a personal contact and showing that you're willing and able to learn and will follow through.
I've been fortunate enough to work in the shops of several established pros and it started the same way every time....with a phone call.
