I wasn't driving :( We were on our way back to Sacramento from a meeting in Oakland.

As soon as I get my car, I'm going to drive over on a day off and ride up the darn thing. How long does that typically take?

I think the record is under an hour, but ha! Be sure to start really early in the morning. It gets hot up there. Not much shade.

I suspected as much. Is climbing Mt. Diablo a sort of rite of passage for California cyclists?

It's one of the three main peaks in the Bay area, and I believe it's considered the most difficult of the three. Hamilton is much longer, but shallower, and I haven't climbed Tamalpais on a bicycle yet, so I couldn't tell you there.

It's definitely an accomplishment to get to the top, especially if you usually ride in the Sacramento area. ;)
