I called them one more time and got the same story of "It shipped on December 2, but we can't track it." I filed a dispute with my credit card, but then, I contacted Schwalbe directly. They told me EBT wasn't fraudulent, but they weren't well organized. They received the order on the 2nd, but they were out of stock. They informed EBT, who was supposed to contact me and credit my account. The tires are back in stock, but EBT would have to resubmit the order.
I'm not too worried with the dispute in place. I'll call again this morning to see if I can get them to issue me a credit, and then I'll cancel the dispute.
The people who have received their goods from EBT seem happy with them, but it sounds like purchasing from them is not necessarily a smooth experience.

Earlier this year I had a similar issue with EBT. They gave me a store credit +some % of the original order a bit after my order "shipped" as their standard policy. Since they had nothing else I wanted and apparantly couldn't get what they still listed as in stock I insisted on a credit to my account multiple times with no response. I later ended up filing a dispute with my credit card to get the original money back on my card.
I agree with your assessment on EBT. I think if there are no glitches at all with EBT, their vendors, shipments and everything else it works out and everyone is happy. They don't seem setup to handle any or at least many glitches and still get things done.

So Ekdog is commenting without reading the whole thing, and therefore his opinion is null.
The only thing that's "null" here is you ability to admit that you were wrong.
You don't see the pattern here? This EBT appears to be nothing more than internet connection that goes to a spare closet in his granny's Florida condo. As far as I can tell, he has no inventory. That, in itself, wouldn't be a problem, if he wasn't a complete jerk, which he is.
This is how he runs his business:
1) Customer places order.
2) EBT sets up the drop ship for said order.
3) If all goes well, no problem.
4) If all doesn't go well, his attitude is "Screw you, I don't do refunds."
The economy is no where near bottom yet. Many respectable, legitimate businesses are going t1ts-up after the new year. What do you think will happen to businesses run by wise guys like this? I give it until March, 2009 at the very latest. Good riddance.
The only thing that's "null" here is you ability to admit that you were wrong.
What was I wrong about?

I don't know if I'll be buying anything from EBT, but I'll certainly look into Velocity for my next rims. Incredible customer service. Under no obligation, they offer free rims. Truly amazing.
As for Fissile. Every thread I've read from him (take a look at his Caddy thread in A&S) is a laugh a minute funny. I've never read anyone with more off the wall hatred and delusions of grandeur. Incredible stuff, Fissile, keep up the weirdness.

You wanna see hatred? Just go to some forum where the neo-con types hang-out. As for delusions of grandeur, I'm actually a very humble person, until someone screws with me.

And there is where the nuttiness starts.......

wow at this thread. wow at Fissle, you're nuttier then squirrel ****.
I am happy to send you a check toady for $58.70, just give me an address and it will be on the way. I will even give you a pair of rims on top of that just to try and convince you that I am not a swindler. This way, if I send you junk rims, which for some reason you seem convinced that, that is what I would do, at least you'll have all your money back. I assure you, I will do everything in my power to send you perfect rims, which is how I treat all of my customers. Believe it or not.
that bit right there is 100% class act. John if I ever need to do business with velocity this is the reason I will.

I just wonder how different this is for most online retailers. There are a couple I dealt with that were smooth as butter others not so smooth, but they are still in business so I have to imagine they have a fairly positive record or they would already be DOA and my order may have just been an anomaly.
Case in point, I hate Performance Bike's ground shipping routine, it's flat out sucks and I rarely use them, but sometimes they have what I am looking for and I will pay for the Fedex 2 day delivery, not the quasi USPO\Fedex Ground thing that blows serious chunks, but since I know going in that I am not in their store, I could be in for a missing package, delayed shipping, out of stock or some other issue. Having the idea that every single order is going to be completed without incident is not realistic. It would be great if it happened, but not realistic.
Greetings,
We see that Mr. Fissle is creating problems unnecessarily. Can we ask that his membership be revoked? And have his thread erased? He is being an internet bully. He is a former customer who has libeled us in another thread. The owner of Velocity himself replied and is quite happy with us as an authorized distributor. Much of what he references no longer applies. We feel in the interest of fairness, this type of activity not be condoned. Mr. Fissle was given an apology and a refund and we addressed it in another forum. This is not fair to us nor the good people who work real hard at EBTire. We are not in a condo. We have a commercial lease for space in Colorado and we run sales out of two offices. We are in year two of a five year build out. Take a look at our website and you'll see that it is head and shoulders above many others and our goals are to bring the largest selection of tires, rims and wheels possible. This means we will drop ship many items and it means there will be stock outs and other circumstances not under our control. We charge credit cards when product ships and we cancel orders when we know of a stockout. It is clear we are getting flamed. We know who this customer is and if we see one more negative post from him, we will take action, which may include forwarding his name to all possible sources and identifying him publicly. You would not believe how worked up Mr. Black at Velocity got when Mr. Fissle libeled us the first time. Mr. Fissle, please stop. People should stop looking at the negative and see us for the long-term partner in cycling that we are. We have spent over $200,000 on our website to create the best possible experience on the Internet. Take a look at the Hutchinson tires, we photographed them, the Arrow Racing and Tufo tires as well. I went to Velocity over Christmas to take pictures of the rims and wheels. We are getting ready to add more wheels and tires and we intend to do it better than anyone. Ask me about the tires, as I installed them all and know which ones are easy to put on. Ask me about wheels, nobody knows more about Velocity products than us. If someone gets something from us, we always make it right and customers can do their part as over and over, anxious customers find our replies in their spam folder. We have no unanswered emails and no unanswered phone calls. I am here seven days a week and give my cell phone number out on special occasions.
Thank you very much
Gayle

Gayle, it's been demonstrated in the thread that the OP isn't to be taken seriously, and in honesty, it's actually good publicity for you. Your response, made in a reasonable manner, I might add, is also good for your image.
Velocity also could not have been more accommodating, and I would leave this thread here in all it's ranting glory as an example of an unreasonable demand by a customer that would never be satisfied, no matter what you or anyone else did. On this note, I will close the thread though.
