Saw this on ebay, and I'm thinking not a very good idea since the frame is under more stress. What do you guys think?

I can't believe you'd go to all that trouble to make a plastic bike and then not mention it's [lack of] weight in the listing!
(looks good. probably breaks when you ride it over a pothole though ;) )

In fact carbon is a very good material for most bicycle applications. They absorb vibration and are much stronger than steel, aluminium, even titanium given the weight is same. Nowadays many high end mountain bikes are made of carbon, and carbon fiber wheelsets are widely used even for offroad use.
That said, AFAIK the hasa folder weighs around 9kg... heavier than mu SL. :[
Yep... that's the Hasa bike. Gavin, the seller, has sold some other Hasa folders on eBay.
Hasa also makes an all-titanium folder. These bikes were at the Taipei Bike Show... and yes, Yan took some pictures while there.
It's a neat idea for a folding bike, but since we don't know enough about Hasa quality, it's hard to say whether this neat idea is worth the price.

as they might be used more roughly. Maybe not when riding. But when getting transported.
would be scared of chips ands cracks on it.

Apart from the fact that it's more important for a folder to be light, you don't necessarily want a tougher material. I don't want my bike to be harder than the sheet rock in my closet or the glass in the boutique shop because when accidental bumping inevitably occurs I'd rather get a few scratches on the bike then get banned from the boutique shop.

You hit the nail on the head.
For a racing bike, CF is great, but in the rough and tumble world of day to day folder commuting and storage, I'll stick to metal.
