Today I went out and spent $139 "before tax" on a Schwinn Spirit Bike Trailer/Stroller.
Put it together and connected it to my bike in about 15minutes, then took it for a stroll without my 1yr old in it. Worked GREAT! Then I tried it with my son in it!
AHHH!! It was the worst trying to get him in it. He has great head and neck control BUT, the "Sling" Seats are horrible. I tried loosening the Straps to make it come down some more but, wasn't enough he was still Just hanging there with the bottom harness straps going into his legs/middle area.
He did great with his first ride in it didn't cry thought it was so much fun but, I could tell he was just so uncomfortable!

So, I believe I am going to take this back and get my money back and shoot for one around $200, or a little over this. Of Course it will take a little saving but, would be so worth the wait for my son to be more comfortable!
I am totally up for a used one around this price and am keeping an eye out on Craigslist and Ebay! My Area just isn't the best place to buy something like this. But, what should I look for, Which one has the same features that the Spirit does but, with more Comfortable seats!
Or am I just being stupid about this and should just get use to these seats???

I have the low end of the Burley line, the Bee. The sling seat was OK, but the lack of a helmet pocket forced her head forward, and her whole seating posture into a poor state. The upper models address this, but that's what you get for around $200 on the better brands as well. I found that a folded crib quilt properly positioned behind her back, but no higher than her shoulders gave her plenty of 'back of the head' space. She was quite comfortable with this little 'engineering change'.

Thanks Fibber. I would LOVE! to be able to afford a d'lite or a solo.
Out of the question though. I do feel like an idiot though lol I was doing the whole sling seat wrong, all though even though its better Im still not Enthused with the Sling Seat. But, I decided Id keep it. And save the extra 50+ I would spend on getting another Trailer and use it for a new Bike!
I do have to say even though my bike is old, and pretty much junk I love to ride it. I think if the top tube were just a couple inches shorter I would be much happier though.
Anyway, Thanks lol...Now to look for a bike within my price range! =)
I'm going down to my LBS tomorrow to just look at what they have. & maybe what they can get at what prices. My Husband did a BMX commercial for him for free, so maybe He will give him some kind of deal to hehe..
My Sister in law and I are going riding tomorrow around 1 with our babies, I'm very excited!

You can get some very nice trailers on the used market for your price range. It would be good if you could find something used and local but I realize not all markets are the same.

We went through a couple box store trailers, and finally bought a good one. Not only were the seat belts poorly designed, but ours broke the only time I dumped it over! (slow... nobody hurt). With new seat belts in place, our 4 YO son just grabbed the new belts and brake 'em in half. I'm guessing they had a batch of bad belts, that even our replacements originated from. Other times we would stop to find he had unbuckled himself. I cut the fabric off and gave it to a friend who promised to use it as a cargo trailer only.

Look for a used Wike, Burley, Trek, Chariot. If they are taken care of they will last years, so don't be afraid of a used one to get in your budget (checked out of course).

I bough a trailer 10 yrs ago for my son. Cheap (same price then as a good one is now), seat not good at all.

I had a "seat section" from a stroller (no picture, sorry), the type we use around here when the child is approx 18 months old.

Ripped out the crappy seat and installed the stroller seat. That way I could have him sit up, or lie down when he fell asleep.

He had a small casetteplayer under the seat (not headphones) with his music or storyes on. Great setup if only one child.
