Click HERE to order your frames! (http://www.alienbikes.com/gb.html)

Remember, all questions go to me (Jamal). There is a direct e-mail for this group buy which is alienbfgb@gmail.com. Do NOT e-mail Joseph (Owner of Alien Bikes) with any questions regarding the frames or this group buy. Your questions will NOT be answered and you may be banned from purchasing.

Also, make sure your PayPal payments are being sent to alien@alienbikes.com, that is the only official e-mail address being used. Any other address is a scam.

Web ordering began Monday morning (9/15/2008)

Update 9/16:
Geometry of the 63cm frame is the same as the 61 except the seat-tube is 61 c-c, the top-tube is 60.5, and the head-tube is about 21cm.

Still want one of those custom colors like Alien Green or Blue Sparkle? Just add it to your cart ($89) from the main "gear" page (http://www.alienbikes.com/gear.html) before adding the Group Buy frameset to your cart.

FAQ:

1. Price
A: The price is $325 SHIPPED. That's $185 dollars off of a painted shipped frameset!

2. Is it paint or powdercoat?
A: Powdercoat from Taiwain.

3. Can I buy the frame without the fork?
A: Unfortunately, no. Separating the order at the factory in Taiwan is too difficult. Also, the blade length on this fork is a proprietary length which helps the geometry, buying a different one might need modifications to maintain the geometry.

4: Can I get clear coat over the raw steel?
A: Not as part of this group buy. People who want clearcoat should do it themselves with spray cans. That way they can also rub the frame down with steel-wool or fine sandpaper first. Straight clearcoat over the phosphate looks awful. Need to do some prep work first. Another nice look is rubbed down with oil or wax, or a blackening agent as used on iron stoves or guns.

5: What is the exact tubing used?
A: Double butted .9-.6-.9 Taiwanese 4130 Cr-Mo.

6: Will the price, when announced, include shipping to the USA?
A: Yes. Via DHL Ground. Hawaii will cost more and will be via USPS Priority. International shipping available.

7: Will BB or headset be installed?
A: BB's and headsets can be installed for the full price ($26, $29 including bb and headset). As well as fork drilling ($15). This is full price because it is a manual process done in Michigan after the frames have been delivered to the US.

8: If I buy this group buy, when will they arrive at my door?
A: Dawn of 2009.

how are you going to get around the obvious "scam alerts" going off in people's heads without an official alien bikes url?

Front drilling will be optional. It will be done in the US for $15. This may delay your shipping a bit. I will post much more info soon.

As stated in my first post, Alien Bikes will also be providing us with the web terminal used to purchase the bikes, there is no need to declare your bid to buy an Alien frameset in this thread.

Someone should tell BigBris about this, save him from buying a Sparton or a beat-up NJS track frame.

Someone better than me :)

from the geo listed on the website, it looks like the 53 is the equivalent of most 50cm. i could be dead wrong.

the seat tube sizes on alien's site are measured center-to-top, so you're correct. it's around 50.5/51 center to center probably.

I will try to answer your questions soon. I am unsure about both.

I will definitely have details about the paint after I get an official price announced.

maybe a dumb question, but do they offer water bottle holes as an option? This could be my commuter.

dougland89
09-12-08, 07:55 AM
frames are just normal l4130 cromo which is kind of a bummer to me. Im halfway thinking just drop the $260 on an IRO frameset since the only advantage to an Alien is the geo and the lugs. We'll see the final price and i'll decide then.

Im in! Ok.. so a question for anyone.. If I want to do a build out.. from what I understand.. I need to have some drilling done? This is for brakes? and bottle cages? what other issues do I need to pay attention to?
