While I don't mean to pimp my own Website, I'd rather not cross post and appear to be blatantly pimping Calfee here on the forums with the full text of my updates... So, here 'tis.
For those who have an interest in what's going on at Calfee with regard to tandems, I've added three new items under my September 11th Bulletin Board update. They include:
1. Calfee Introduces Carbon Crossover Cranksets For Tandems
2. Calfee Reduces Price of S&S Coupler Option By $900
3. Calfee Bamboo Triplet Is Readied For A Mission From God - Seriously...
You can read the items and follow links to additional articles here:

The Calfee carbon cranks had been in work for some time now and we mentioned the aluminum couplers in chichi's thread asking about Aluminum Couplers. The tourderevs (http://www.tourderevs.org) and bamboo triplet is simply something I stumbled across in the news... and it's a great story as well as a really cool tandem.

Mark,
I just turned 50 yesterday and you won't believe what happened. On that very day I found that the excessively small typeface size you use is hard to read. Have you thought about a small design change to your tandemlink website that would allow us old codgers to catch up on the news that is a little easier on our eyes?
BTW, good info on the Calfee stuff, you shill

I use IE and go to the toolbar and select view-text size-LARGEST and also have a 20" monitor.

I don't know what browser you're using, but on mine, there's a keyboard shortcut for making all the fonts larger. Works on Safari and Firefox (Mac): apple-+ - might be control + on a PC.

I just think it is a poor design that uses too small font size. Besides, I just need to find one of the 10 pairs of supermarket reading glasses that I have scattered throughout the house and the text becomes clearer.
Using the zoom is inefficient and requires that most other sites unzoom unless there is a way to specify zoom-level per site and I don't think IE or Firefox does that.
I am using a 24" Dell monitor and even on that I have to zoom several times to make the text a reasonable size. But this thread is not about the tiny text it's about the new Calfee parts, can we get it back on track.
I am going to call TandemsEast about the crankset as my Ruegammer Ying-Yang is only months away.
Edit:
Firefox let's you zoom text only (a check off item in the menu) and it does remember the zoom setting per web page and the setting survives multiple Firefox sessions. Problem temporarily solved.

So TG, what do you think of the Cranks?
If my FSA cranks don't stop creaking, I may have to invest in something else for my mental health.

Hold down the control button and scroll with the mouse to zoom. Macs are better.

Best bet is to ask mburchard, as he's using what are essentially the same cranks...
Calfee has sourced the new cranks from Martec who also makes the carbon cranks used by Santana and that Calfee was also offering.
The key discriminators between the two different offerings include:
1. Santana spec’d their cranks with an Octalink interface whereas Calfee has spec’d the ISIS interface.
2. Santana only spec'd 175mm front / 170mm rear, whereas Calfee is offering captain and stoker in buyer's choice of 170mm / 172.5 / 175mm.
You can also have the cranks color keyed to your tandem with pain or stripped for nude carbon frames.
At present, we're sticking with our daVinci & square tapers. I suspect a good set of ISIS BB's would make for a more solid feeling interface with the daVinci cranks.

I get a kick out the Mac vs. PC arguments. Apparently others do to  :crash:  :roflmao: :twitchy:
Mac Rant Older but still one of the funniest out there (2 curse words and one sign)

You can do that with Firefox on the PC also. Nothing special about the Mac. ;)
FYI: Tandems East is closed until the 15th apparently they are on vacation. I say good for them.

Wrong actually.
He's talking about zooming the entire screen, as in not just the text, not just the browser but everything. Mac has this feature built into the OS.

Incorrect. Even if you are right, I was not wrong, look at the context, we are talking about browsers and he made no stipulation that it was the whole screen. It's great that Mac brethren stick together but at least qualify your answers so we are talking apples to apples (no pun intended) here.

You can't make this stuff up... http://www.tourderevs.org/
Although, I don't believe it's consecutive days... as there appear to be some rest days in between the 100 planned days of riding.

I say that because the command he referred to (control + scroll wheel) is for screen magnification on the mac. He did not stipulate that, so there is no way you would know what he was talking about.
However, doing text magnification is not the same. So you're still wrong ;)
just kidding around anyway.
Actually the magnification built into the OS is very slick, and is great for older users especially with a nice big monitor. You have to try it to appreciate it.

Wow, a hijacked thread about MAC and font sizes, actually your font size is just fine. I can assure you everything is fine. I am +50 and work on websites, your users just need reading glasses.
As far as Mel at Tandems East.. they are in Italy till early next week.

To be fair, I did go ahead and increase the font size by 1 point when I got home this evening; I aim to please.
Yes, Mel & Barbara are indeed in Italy until after next weekend and enjoying wonderful weather and a dream vacation filled with perfect terrain for tandems and plenty of visits to oh-so-cool bicycle and bicycle-related manufacturer facilities in the region.

No complaints here. Little hard to find DA BBs for the Octalink (sealed BBs for the triple width), so I stocked a couple of spares when I did find them. Drivetrain on our tandem is very quiet/smooth.

Not to mention that their route appears to be following Interstates (much of I-10 and all of I-5 up the West coast). Guess they plan on making those long days by drafting semis.

I happen to know one of the clergymen involved. He's an avid cyclist.
The idea of three clergymen riding across country on a triplet bicycle sounds a bit like a lost Jerome K. Jerome story, doesn't it?
