I rode a short five mile ride on Sunday morning to inspect the damage from Hanna. (Alas, with church, Bible study, and the gym scheduled, I had no time for a longer ride.) While there were some branches down on the roads, there was no flooding. Darn, floods make for good photos. But I made do....

A swollen French Creek flows under Sheeder-Hall Bridge:

Our eight-legged friends living on the bridge have been busy repairing damage from the storm. You can see French Creek in the background.

Photography done, country roads take me home.....

Hopefully everyone made it through relatively unscathed.

We're gearing up for Ike. Lot's of folks from the coast are already in the Dallas area. The Weather Guesser guys are saying if it hits around Houston as a Cat 3 we should see Cat 1 conditions in the Dallas area, without the storm surge.

Should be an interesting weekend. Sadly, it looks like it may have Ike'd up of my Wounded Warrior Ride plans for tomorrow.

Touring my neighborhood this AM, seems that 50% of the residence are going to ride the Storm Out.
Half of the homes are boarded up.
9 AM Friday No Rain or High Winds Yet.
Riding my bike over to Daughter's home 3.5 miles from mine.
She has a New Home with much better Storm Resistant Construction.

Take care 10 Wheels. The system is huge and likely working it's way up to a Cat 3

The storm surge is already breaching the sea wall in Galveston and the final warning to residents is that failure to evacuate will likely lead to death. They are in for a bad one on the island.

They say, it's going to get pretty exciting in Katy as well. I think most of the people are staying though. I think I'm safer at home, rather than the highway.

I think if you haven't already made your way out, it just might be better to stay put if your not on the bay.

The drive time to Dallas yesterday was over 9 hours, and is just getting worse unless they open both sides of 45.
