I want to thank the very helpful folks in this forum for recommending the Fenix L2D flash light.

I had been using a Nite Hawk Raptor (10w Halogen, 2.5lb SLA battery) for the last two years. It was more than sufficient in the light output and run time, but I disliked the wires and heavy battery.

I tried a Blackburn Voyager 4.0 last year. All I have to say is pass on this one. Not enough light for full speed in dark conditions. The mounting bracket broke (which they replaced free of charge) and then the part of the housing that connects to the bracket broke and sent the light flying when I bounced over some rough railroad tracks.

I bought the L2D Premium recently and affixed it to my helmet. This is gonna work. Lots of light output, self contained, light weight, and multi-purpose. Its pretty cool looking up at the bird wire along the MUP and seeing owls and hawks hunting for dinner.

In addition to the Fenix, I attached the Voyager to the bars with a lock block. Pretty solid now. I've been running it in flash mode. (Any diy'ers out there have any suggestions on upgrading the LED in this thing to something brighter? It does have 4 AA batteries in it and a decent housing / lense design.)

Once darkness really sets in, I may get another or try the Ultrafire, so that I can retire the Voyager.
