I was starting out a ride this week and when I took my first pedal on my platforms I slid forward and (this is mostly supposition because it happened so fast) pushed the front fender into the front wheel, which 'caught' and curled the fender up under itself. This bent both rods which joined it to the braze-ons bent some of the metal parts of the fender. I was able to loosen and tighten some stuff to get where I was going without and rubbing but it really isn't functional anymore.

I am using the Planet Bike "Hardcore Road" on my 700x28 Infinity Armadillos. I feel like I am always about to either toe the front one on turns or heel kick my pannier or my rear fender.

I'm 5'9" and ride the 55 version of the geometry here (http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCGeometryPopup.jsp?spid=33079) and have wide size 12 feet.

I don't know if I should try fixing the fender, buying a different front fender, or if I should shorten my crank length which is currently 175mm.

Any help you folks can give would be great.

Did your foot slip forward on the platforms? Look at toe clips or clipless system pedals.

I've had a similar snafu on my Jamis with planet bike fenders--it was quite an embarrassing tumble. As for the front fenders, I suggest you just dust off your pride and keep riding. Replace the fenders if need be (maybe the model that detaches easily, Speedez I think it's called), but the easiest answer is to just modify your riding style to be more conscience of your toes when turning the wheel. Good luck!

I'm kinda appalled at how cheezy and mickey mouse most bike fenders are.
