Hello All,

I am going on an overseas trip next month and I have a dilemma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dilemma).

Option 1: Use my Garmin Nuvi 200W (https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=9122) to navigate through Wales, London, and Paris......Notes: Screen is nice and big, but only 5 hours of battery life.

Option 2: Use my Garmin Edge 705 (https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=10885), with a small but readable screen, and have a smaller, lighter weight (maybe about the same) option with a 15 hour battery life.

Question, have any of you used the 705 on a trip overseas? I would probably load all of the destinations beforehand, and I would only use it in the event we got lost or something.

Any feedback on this?

Also, if the moderators would like to move this, I would understand. Isn't FOO the place you put things that don't belong??

Edit: If I do any biking, it will only be for one day in Wales. So, don't factor biking into the answer. It's just sight seeing.

I'd go for longer battery life. And bring maps. ;)

I"m going to move this to Electronics, probably get more responses over there.

If you already have both... why not bring both? That gives you more battery time at least.

Good thought, but I am going with a backpack for two weeks (so I can carry my wife's two suitcases, you know).

So, I am trying to be as light weight as possible for my trip. Althought the 200W is bigger, they both weight about the same. I do like the size of the 705, but I am wondering if anyone has actually travelled with it off of the bike and used it to navigate streets.

I will have a charger to charge either of them at night. I think the sd/micro sd Europe card will work for either of them.
