Hi. I'm 16 years old, and looking for an affordable rear-wheel electric conversion kit for my Schwinn Mesa GS mountain bike. I need it to have good hill-climbing ability; speed isn't that important. I need around a 15 mile range.
I don't want a front wheel kit because I'd like to keep my suspension fork (which is made of aluminum and would break with a front wheel kit). Most of the kits I've looked at are either front-wheel or expensive. Does anybody know of a less expensive one with the features I need?

I use the ampedbikes kit. I use it daily I parked my others. Its a quality kit with good prices.

Give us a price range. That will help.

$500 or below, including the battery and charger, is what I will be able to afford (once I've saved up for a while).
I'm looking to be able to pedal (with motor assist) up the various uphill sections of the Pine Mountain Truck Road in Marin County, California without having to stop at the top to rest.
Also, it would be nice to be able to commute to and from school (7 miles; I can fit an extension cord in my pack to recharge :P) without having to use the bus.

Try this guys site (http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/ebike). He's built up a number of ebikes including his latest rear wheeler (it's the yellow 2 wheeler).
Oh, BTW, he doesn't think much of this ebike forum.
