Sometimes I feel like we are the only people in the world who are touring with our kids - but I know we're not. We are currently riding from Alaska to Argentina with our 10-year-old twin boys and are having a blast. We have one child on the tandem behind Daddy, while the other one decided he wanted a single for this trip.

So - who else tours with their kids? What trips have you done? And blogs or journals for me to get inspiration from??

although i am brand new to the world of Tandems, i bought it with that in mind. I dont have the time available to tour the length you are doing, but my almost 9 yr old are heavy into planning 3 different 3 and 4 day self contained trips for next summer and possibly a couple "color tour" rides yet this year.

We did a couple of short tours with our kids on two tandems in the beginning - it was great!! So great, in fact, that it led to bigger, longer trips. Enjoy your time with your kid!!

Not me, but you might recognize this old Santana triplet (repainted) that`s getting ready for a transam next year. Plenty of kids on it now.

Almost all of the above is true for me too. Just last week I got my first tandem, a 1984 Counterpoint Opus II that I'll be using to take my 9-YO daughter to soccer and that kind of thing, and work the family into touring next summer. First step was to get my wife on it for a 25 mile ride on Sunday. She was hesitant, but came back loving it.

Nancy, I faithfully read your site every update you put in there. Glad you are back in the states - hope you get the wheels fixed soon.

rhm - I hope it works out for you! I love touring as a family - it's the best!!

veloellen - we should be picking up our new wheels in a few hours (provided all goes as planned). We're planning on taking off tomorrow morning to head UP to Yellowstone. We've got a 4000-foot climb shortly after we leave here, so that'll be tough.

My 8 year old loves to ride with me, I think she peddles harder then my wife does. LOL

My teenagers are in the "too cool for bikes" stage, but they will come back around.

I'm hoping to dodge that bullet by having an exceptionally cool bicycle!

It is even more fun when your kids are in their 20's and 30's and bringing the grandkids along.
