Cyclocross - Cassette quest. add 11-34 instead of 11-25

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I just received my new Surly Cross Check with Tiagra and bar end shifters. In order to get better singletrack performance, I want to take off the rear 9 speed 11-25 cassette and dérailleur and replace it with an older MTB 9 speed Shimano Deore LX (RD-M571-SGS) dérailleur and a SRAM PG-950 9sp 11-34 cassette.
My question is whether the Shimano Bar-end (SL-BS77). 9-Speed Dura-Ace shifters are compatible with the MTB derailluer and cassette? Also, will I need to lengthen the chain going from 11-25 to the 11-34?

Shimano SL-BS77 double/triple x 9-speed bar end shifters. Friction-compatible right lever
Drivetrain Spacing: Shimano/SRAM 9
FD/Shifter Compatibility: Shimano Road Triple,Mountain Triple,Shimano Road Double
Shifter/Rear Derailleur : Shimano
looks like its a go for the shifter/mtb derailleur, also I have a 11-23 on my bike and I had to shorten the chain... a lot! so I don't think the 9t diff is going to bug you so much in functionality as it would in appearance.. the long cage will just be more taught...

You will need to lengthen your chain. Use the Park Tool online guide for chain installation.

Yes. I have this exact same setup on a grocery getter I have.

I have the exact same setup on my training bike/commuter. Works great, especially when used as a mountain bike.

The original deraileur on my Cross Check clears an 11-32. I was putting a new chain on when I did the swap, so I don't know how much longer the chain is. If you are going to ride your Cross Check off road get a chain watcher It drops a lot in rock gardens and rough downhills.
Great, I assumed that the Tiagra medium cage would only be able to clear the rated 27t. I will also check the stock chain length, check this video recommending tight derailers:

Also, what 11-32 cassettes do you recommend, I was looking at a SRAM PG-950.
