Well, its been noted (thanks Jerry) that it has been a while since I've been around the forums so I figured I'd give you and update.

So far I haven't been able to line up money to get a bike (mainly due to gas prices) but I have been looking.
My father and I have both been to some local pawn shops to look at some bikes and might go to a few bike shops next weekend.
I have been doing quite a bit of walking until I find a bike and have been losing about 2 lbs a week which surprised me.
My doctor who is an avid cyclist himself said that I was healthy enough to begin cycling

You might want to try craigslist as well. Good luck in your search.

And, you can find some awesome deals on bikes at second hand stores, or, the best, at garage sales.....

Good luck in searching! The best bikes come like the best relationships - least when you expect them ;)

I have found pawn shops around here to be over priced. Garage sales and thrift shops are where the super cheap deals can be found. I have found several good bikes that way this year for $15 or less.

Worth a trip to St Louis for, judging by the prices I saw on the Carbondale, IL Craig's List.

I can't remember your height but this is good for someone from 5'10" to about 6 feet.

Austin doesn't have any excuse now! I'm the CL King with my $75 Hardrock!

We need to get you sized up so you can know what frame size you need. And what kind of bike you want.

Heck, just go look up Jerry in SI. He now has his own mini bike shop from his recent Craig's List purchases. I am sure he can spare one :-o

Thanks for the encouragement and help guys. I'll probably start looking on CL more often now. As soon as I can scrape up some money, I will get one. It just all depends on how long that will be.

Thanks for checking in, Austin. Keep up the good work with all that walking, you're making progress and that's what it's all about!

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with the loss and here's to hoping it continues.
