How it is to ride over there? How are the roads? Any trails? bike lanes? paved shoulders? what about crime? lots of cyclists around in sacred cycling Sunday?

The place is a LOT closer to my office than my current home so I'm thinking about moving there, but I know nothing about the place.

Well, I went scouting today, visited 17 locations in Kissimmee, Ponciana and Davenport. Maybe I went to the wrong places but the area is unridable. Their idea of a highway is a one lane road poorly maintained with no shoulder or sidewalk or anything... cars going 65mph+ contantly, with their side mirrors passing at inches from each other. Longwood is Heaven in comparison. I'll keep looking around but seriously, me no likey. If anybody knows the area and can tell me where (if any) are the good cycling locations, I would appreciate it a lot.

I'm not from, but I've been there. There is a MUP-ish sidewalk on Pleasant Hill Rd., from 17-92 on the south side of Kissimee, that is rideable for @8 or 10 miles south(if you are not too proud to ride on the sidewalk...). That's the only somewhat long ride I know.

There is a very nice, but short, trail on the south side of the lake, north side of St. Cloud(I think only a couple miles). There are many low traffic streets in St. Cloud, but you can't go far w/o stop signs. Maybe some rideable roads in Disney or Celebration(?). I assume you know about the West Orange Trail, etc. if you want to drive to ride.

If I was you, I would get on Google Earth, or Bikely, and search hard. I often find a secret route this way that I would never find in the car, or even on the bike. With a couple of these:

maybe you can link up some neighborhood roads into a decent run. good luck

Check out St. Cloud. I used to bike to work at WDW from Kiss but that ewas years ago. There are not many "side" roads left.
