Has anyone else ridden up this mountain?

Since 2001 I've spent a weekend at Lake George every year in late October - have biked there and back from the Boston area a few times and once from Maine. Have not done the whole trip by bike in the last few years, but two years ago I took my bike with me and rode to the summit and back before breakfast one day. I'm thinking of doing it again this year. It's a very nice smoothly paved road, about 6 miles with an elevation gain of about 1600 feet. I timed it to see the sunrise from the top, started the descent just as the sun rose and saw it rise a couple more times from different points on the way down.

I don't think bikes are supposed to be allowed on the road, but it's closed to auto traffic for the season in mid October. You could probably do it at any time of the day after that, but I don't know whether the bicycle prohibition would be enforced if someone saw you. When I did it I had the whole mountain to myself.

A couple of things I'll do differently next time are to make sure someone knows where I am and to take a cell phone. Just in case.

Here's a video of the ascent taken from a motorcycle:

I've biked a few other New England mountains in years gone by, including Mount Washington (back when there was no restriction on bicycles there), Mount Greylock, Wachusett, and Pack Monadnock, but I think Prospect Mountain, though less physically challenging, is in some ways the nicest.

I've also hiked the mountain. The hiking trail is only about a mile and a half, and much steeper. Whether hiking or biking, I'm sure I wouldn't enjoy it as much if I went when the road is open to traffic.

Some photos I found on flickr, not mine:

Not gone up that one before but sounds like a great ride. Great video from the back of the MC too, what time of the year was that taken? Sounds like morning in that time of the year would be the best time too, just about sunrise. I may have to check that out when the autos are restricted. Thanks!
