we are having some heavy wind here in Ohio and it knocked the power out. And it looks like that this storm system isn't going to move through untill tonight. And my iPod touch is almost out of battery, so it may be a while before I can get back on. And to all those wondering how I am still on the interweb, all the network hardware is on a UPS.

we're getting the same storm system you guys are getting.
It's causing a heavy torrential downpour here. Some flooding to be expected.

Yeah it's a big storm... I think there are a few people down in Texas that might not have much sympathy for you, though...

yeah. Really. Although here in Ohio, we just got the wind. No rain. But the university still has power, so I can get back on the interwebs. When I left my house this morning, the power was still off and could remain that way for a few days.

Here in Avon (West Cleveland) we lost power for about 10 hours. Not much rain but lots of wind. My daughters school is closed today so I guess I have a daddy day care day ahead of me :)

East of your present position. No rain, but holy wind...headwind slowed the commute something fierce this morning.

Flippin Sweet!

not sweet. I have a paper due today and I couldn't pritn it last night because of the power outage and I can't get my dad to email it to me because the power it STILL out. I really hope the power comes back on before 3 so I can get my paper.

It hit our place about midnight - where all of a sudden I heard it over my TV and AC on. 55 mph winds - took out a lot of trees, started fires and left a lot of people without power.

Luckily it settled down betwen 5-6 and by 7 am I was just riding in sustained 10-15 mpr winds with 20-25 gusts

Chill out....I was making a joke by referring to the Fooster, "Flippin Sweet".

of course she is. Would she know how to reset the breaker on the power lines?

Sorry to hear about the winds back there. I used to live in Cinci, and I remember some of the wind and rainstorms we'd get since we were right on the edge of Ohio's tornado alley.
Out here in western WA, we get some hella narsty windstorms in the late fall and early winter. It's still a bit before the windy season for us right now. Last year we had some areas that were without power for 3 weeks.

I hope they get things turned back on for you soon!

Still no power. My dad is using his generator to get work done and that means that he can switch power over to my room to get my computer back online so he can email me my paper.

I have a paper due in about an hour (rough draft only, thank the higher power), and I was going to print it off last night after some revising, but the power whent bye-bye and so did my ability to print off said paper. But, since my dad fired up the generator, he can get onto my comuter, pull the file and send it to me *yay*. I love my dad.

And along with the email, he said it looks like we aren't going get main power back untill tomorrow at the earliest. There are lines down across one of the nearby roads. The road is closed, but there are no power crews working on the line. The neighbors still have power, but they are on the opposite phaze. *sigh*

It's remarkable how much reliance we put on the flow of electrons.....

update: still without main power, although our generator is going. We only fire it up every couple of hours to cool the fridge and deep freeze and to cook. The auto power outage reportage says that full power should be restored by Friday. I'm still on my iPod because I can't fire up my desktop.
