Now I know why they are talked about in hushed, reverent tones. Holy Toledo. They were the most comfortable shoes--of any kind--that I've ever slipped into. At over $200 , they were also the most expensive shoes of any kind that I've ever tried on. For now, I'm sticking with my cracked and aging Shimano sandals, which I dearly love. But if you ever have a couple of C-notes burning a hole in your pocket, check out the Sidi's.

I predict that it will not be long before a pair of Sidi shoes grace the feet of one Jet Travis.
I've had my Sidi Genius 5 (mega) for a little more than two years. Great shoes and they were on sale for $179 when I bought them.

When I was a wee lad, I desperately wanted my grandmother to take me to Disney Land. She said, "Give me all your money. I'll go and tell you what it was like."
Tommy, me lad, I make a similar generous offer: Send me all your money. I'll buy the Sidi's and tell you what they're like.

FWIW, my Sidi's are 8 years old and I think I'll get several more years from them. By far the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. I tried a pair on once and just had to come back in a few months and bought them. I figure that $20 per year for great fitting and comfortable shoes is a good investment.

Sidi shoes are expensive, and they are also a bargain. I know, it sounds like a contradiction at first, but it's not.
This from a known world-class cheapskake/skin-flint (with Scots DNA).
True, I wear my Lake and Shimano shoes for club rides and short events; save the SIDI shoes for centuries, double metrics and double centuries (rides that really matter).
Rick / OCRR
I wear my Sidi Dominators  for all rides because they don't cause my feet to feel like they are on fire like my other MUCH less-expensive shoes do. Like slippers.... with cleats on the bottom. :)

Watch at Sierra Trading Post, I got my Sidis (carbon fiber soles) there last year for I think around $130

Had mine now for 3 years, wouldn't have anything else! They cost me $223.00, I still have the original sales receipt in case I decide I don't like anymore and want to return them.
My birthday is fast approaching. Size 43.:innocent:

I will not need to send you any money, for you have heard the call of the Siren.
Every time you ride a bike from now on, you will recall the wonderful comfort of the Sidi. It will play on your mind. You will be unable to enjoy your rides as much as you used to.
You should have stopped yourself before trying them on.

I have been warning people since the beginning of the year. If you are looking for new cycling shoes- Don't even look at Sidi's. In fact if you have any sense- you will hunt out the cheap bike shops that don't even stock them.

Also try the lower price Sidi models. I actually prefer them. The Sidi Bullet 2 and Zeta are a lot cheaper and have the same fit. They use Velcro where the Dominator and Genius use a buckle. I like the Velcro just fine.
It seems that a lot of shops only stock the higher end Sidis, but if all else fails you can probably find them at REI.

:lol: And neither is the check. :notamused:
I just scored a pair of '08 Sidi Hydro GTX Winter Road Shoes for $249 on ebay. My justification: we're not getting the Tucson condo this winter and I'm tired of my piggies turning blue. I love cold-weather riding anyways :D These are my first Sidi's. They feel custom-made to my feet.
Looks like Mike still has some more: http://search.stores.ebay.com/Hydro-GTX-Winter-Road-Shoe_W0QQdfspZ3QQfromZR40QQsbrexpZWD1SQQsifZ1QQsofpZ4QQssPageNameZWD1SQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1248

I'm 8 or 9 years into riding my lower line Sidi road shoes and I still love them. I can't remember the model name, but essentially the same as the current Zeta, with velcro straps instead of buckles and ratchets.

Keep an eye on ebay during the winter. I require a mega, which is the wide Sidi, but still found a brand new pair of Dominators for $117 last winter.

I bought top of the line Sidis over 10 years and 25,000 miles ago and they still feel great. A wonderful investment if you can afford the initial sticker shock.

Wait a minute, folks are getting 8-10 out of a pair of shoes?
How much mileage per year?

The Bullet 2 is available in Mega widths now.
I've read time and again that the insoles that come with the Sidi's are nothing but junk and should be replaced. Any comments on that?

I have been wearing SIDI on my motorcycles and bicycles for a long time and won't get anything else. For me they are well worth the price.
But still...you have to try on any shoe to make sure it fits. I really wanted some Sidis, but they just don't fit me - and a whole lot of other people. Shimano's fit me, with their narrow heel and large toe box.

I've got 10,000 miles on my Sidi Dominator Megas and they are still comfortable. Thinking about new insoles, but that's it. You wouldn't regret owning a pair.

I got 28 years out of my Pumas, that was a lot of miles. I tried on some Sidis, but the shop didn't have them in wide, and they were uncomfortable. Ended up with a pair of Nikes they had on sale for $25 :O
Figured I wouldn't have any problems upgrading for that price.

I bought mine with the intention of replacing the insoles, but they're so comfortable that I haven't touched them. You may want to consider changing your reading material.
But I like reading BF, Bud.

JT ... I know you are still out there ... silently reading and pondering
Look at what your 50+ friends have told you. Sure it may be $200'ish dollars for a pair of shoes. But a pair that may last 10, 15, or more years. It's only about $12-$15 a year. That's a bargain.
Do it, JT, do it! Pull the ripcord.

I have been riding in a pair of Sidi Genuis 2 shoes since 1994. I had to have a boot shop replace the velcro and they predate insoles, all I have is a smooth leather footbed that is permanent. The only drawback to them is the early 90's colors Silver, Teal, Purple, and Neon Yellow. Great conversation starters. I think I paid $180 dollars for them.

Sure beat the 90 bucks I spent on crappy Shimano shoes to have them rip in less than a year, and my buddy ripped a pair in the same spot. Good money, for excellent quality, is a good investment. Like the 250, I spent on my Gaerne winter riding shoes, money well spent. hmmm going to look at some Sidi's methinks.

Well, the Sidi's are nice. I wore out a pair of Geniuses and replaced them with Carnacs. A little wider, and much more comfortable to me. NOT cheaper tho!

I got skinny feet, to the point I need to crank down velcro to the point it has nothing to grasp onto or the excess is hangin' off my shoes like weird little wings.

It depends on what you want. If you want a lot of padding you may not like them, but give them a chance. The ones that came in my Bullet 2s and my Zeta's are both thin and don't have a lot of padding, That said, I am still using them after quite a good bit of mileage including all day every day on a 73 day coast to coast trip.

I've got two pairs of Sidi's (road and MTB) and ya know, I've never given a moment's thought to the insoles. Which is exactly what I want from an insole.

My first and only pair of Sedi shoes I purchased 30 years ago. They were the best shoe available at the time and sold for $70. That was alot of money back then. So $200 doesnt seem to bad in todays dollar.

I have two pairs of SIDI. These two pairs are serving my needs for 15 years and do not seem to fall apart. I did use insole liners from Dr. Scholls and others. These shoes are not on my critical watch list.

New pair of Sidi blazes for 120. Mtb shoes but oooohhhhhhhhh they felt good. Put them on, rode for 25. Do that in a brand new pair of regular shoes. Not to mention the LBS treatment I got with it. Like back in the day when you had shoe salesmen.

I never question the cost of a truly comfortable shoe, whether for sport or fashion.
I'm glad you tried the Sidis and love them. May you ride many miles over many years with happy feet.

I evidently missed your warning. I'm going to blame this whole thing on you and Jet Travis:D
I tried some on a few weeks ago but resisted buying them. All this recent talk about them finally got to me.....my Sidi's should be here later in the week:)

Perhaps your act will inspire JT to get off of the stick.
Always check places like totalcycling.com and probikekit.com, If you know your size you can often pick up Sidi's at very good prices.
I replace the insoles in my shoes with Superfeet insoles, mostly because my feet are wonky and the Superfeet are the bomb.
Love my Sidi's, get 'em overseas for much cheaper.

What took you so long? ;)
If not for the other shoes that set my right foot on fire after only 10-15 miles, I'd still be wearing them and wondering what all the fuss over Sidis is about. Mine are like slippers with MTB soles and cleats.
