I was thinking about doing a ride with a friend tonight. I was waiting for his call for some time. He just called. He was on his way to Performance to pick up a chain, when someone ran a red light and nailed him. My friend says he's ok, but his car in pretty mangled. Scary stuff.

Please pay attention out there, and take that extra second or two to look around for stupid people.

good to hear your friend is ok. People run red lights here all the time. I always try to wait an extra second after the light turns just to be safer.

If only bikes had side airbags...

also stop at stop signs and creep forward if it's a blind corner.

I T-boned a car with my bike saturday because they didn't really stop at the line or creep forward at the blind corner.

I had a friend in an accident last week, he's doing ok, but pretty sore:
he was pulled up at a stop light, 2 cars in front of him and 1 behind him. A van coming at full speed plowed into the vehicle behind him, which hit his, and he hit the car in front of him, which hit the one in front of them. It made a cavalier sandwich. I've got some pics on my work computer I'll have to post tomorrow, its pretty impressive how his vehicle took the impact.

The best assumption you can make whenever you are on a public road is that everyone else is an idiot.I took an MSA motorcycle safety course a few years ago to get my M/C license. The instructor must have said a hundred times "Everyone out there IS out to get you, ride (drive) like they are and you'll be fine".
