Road Cycling - Mercier Serpens

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
After reading several posts I decicded to get on of these bicycles, They seem to be very nice , I really like the graphics on the frame and they are under 20 pds with the add ons I did. I don't think anyone would be sorry if they are looking for a steel frame, and quality componets. I am very happy so far but I have not put many mile on it. My old bike was a univega superstrata that weighed 25.5 pds and I really liked it, but it seemed heavy after my buddy bought a new Trek 5200. We are with in 1 pd now and I seem to have a better ride, although he has better performance.
I'm not familiar with it - is there a link to some pics and specs?

You can go to www.cyclesmercier.com for pictures and specs, The one I got is a bluish purple to a lighter blue fad from back to frt. Bicycles direct sells these but I have heard they do not cummunicate very well, I got mine from ebay, sprtymama was the name and she was very good at anwsering and questions I had. I got mine on auction for 1030.00 but she said she would sell one for 1100.00 delivered I can give you her email address if you want to contact her. I had tuffies tire liners put in mine so with out those I think this would wiegh about 19 pds for a 54 cm. She sell alot of mercier and fugi and motobecane on ebay so if you click on one of those bikes you will find her and then you can view what she sells. The serpens has all ultegra and ritchey stuff with a carbon fiber fork and it is a good one too not a knock off. I am happy with what I paid I good a quality bike.

I checked into the Mercier's awhile back at bikesdirect.com and on ebay with sprtymama and others. They appear to be good bang for the buck bikes. I ended up preferring the Fugi Professional for 1 reason - the color scheme.
As for bikesdirect.com - I recently bought a wheelset from them off ebay and they accidently typo-ed the shipping address. As far as communication goes, they have been great. They have been in contact with me daily while they traced the package and had it re-routed. I commend their custormer service.
Good luck with the Serpens.
