Saturday I set out on my longest ride to date. Started at my place in Escondido, CA and rode across town and hit the small patch of the I15 to get me to Rancho Bernardo. Actually got behind another rider just getting on. Got off and headed out towards Poway. Went a little to far so had to turn around to get back on track. Made the loop around Poway and back to RB. Got back to the I15 with no problems and headed home. Did 38.5 miles in a little of 2hrs 30 mins.
Today I got up earlier then normal to meet up with friends to go on another ride. Left my place at 8:30 got to the transit center where we were meeting. I was the first to show. 4 of us were riding in from our respected homes. 1 person on the way in had chain problems so 1 person went to pick them up in there Excursion. We got the chain fixed and where on our way. Headed out from Escondido Towards San Marcos and then towards Elfin Forest. 4 of the riders split off to do a 20 mile ride and myself and 1 other rider head the opposite direction towards the coast. We got down to Encinitas and then back up the 101 to Carlsbad. Took Palomar Airport Road back into San Marcos and then headed back into Escondido where we split off to head home. I finished the day at 45.2 miles (officially the longest ride for me) in about 3 hours 10 mins. THe ride today was more hilly then I had anticipated and was challenging for me.
The ride was fun even though my legs were a little worn out from Saturday.
The only bad part of the ride was just after the last major hill I was sprinting to catch lights and ran into a Bee that I couldn't see. So I got stung right on my Lower lip. Was super painful. Luckily there was another rider to get the stinger out.
