I want to frame my state championship jersey for my kid. He's really into stuff like that and wants to hang it up. Since I can't wear it anymore I figure I might as well. Thing is, I'm not sure where's the best place to have it done, or if they just sell a frame that works. In googling the subject I found this BF gem from the days of yore.

I think you guys are missing the point here.. any nit wit brain injured or not can figure out where to frame things.. podium bound is letting us all know in his own way that he has a national jersey and a medal and in a few posts he is going to state that he thinks his jersey has more value than the yellow jersey of the TDF..
and you know, i know all of us are proud of different accomplishments in our life.. be it moving up a class or being a dad or whatever... even just going to join in a club ride...is an accomplishment!!!!! (and good on ya for any of these things)
and yes nick .. it is fantastic that you have this talent.. I am as proud of my little fourth places finishes as you are your national jersey.. but gosh...
this is a really strange way to communicate these things..
chill dude.. juyst say what you mean.. hey everybody, i am stoked as **** that i have a national jersey.. it really makes me feel good about myself and i want you to see me this way... isnt it cool...? instead of having to go through this charade.. of.. hey.. where can i frame my national jersey and then hey, i think this is better than the yellow jersey..
if it was about just framing a jersey you would just say.. where can i frame a jersey.. clearly this is about some insatiable need to be validated.. and i would rather you just ask for that out right..
or we can make a validate poduim bound section for you or something....

k..? this isnt an attack.. its just..
come one dude..
its cool that you have done this well.. it really is...
and i am sorry about the brain injury...
luck to you and i wish you more victories...
but chill dude....

and if this is dickish of me.. i apologize and i promise i wont be critical anymore..
obviously this is none of my business and so i should just ignore your posts... but i have a feeling that someone with your knack for doing well would benefit from learning how to connect with people without bombing them to death with insecurity...

am i wrong..? cause i could be, and if i am you have my apology...
I dont know why this gets under my skin.. and why i am writing this.. my intent is not to be cruel (believe it or not) and his is meant with a good dose of humor.. which never seems to come acroos from me in this medium... so please .. i know i am taking the piss..
and its meant in a buddy-ish way...
chill dude....
you know? (help me out here)

I would try local craft store/framing places. In the USMC world we get portions of uniforms and stuff framed all the time for retirements/ceremonies and there are plenty of framing places to get it done.

Call up Mellow Johnny's. They've had a few done this year.

It seems like felt on the back, with some pressure from the glass would hold it in place just fine.

I believe you are looking for a shadow box frame. They sell these at craft stores. Pretty easy to do yourself and much less expensive than having someone do it for you. I did one of these for my wife's first marathon finish and I am pretty inept at this kind of thing....well in most things.

I'm inept at everything. Well, except sprinting.

My aunt has a signed Lance Armstrong jersey in her house. A yellow one. She works for Bristol Myers Squib. It looks to me like they tacked the jersey to the backing somehow that you can't see from the front. Low profile tack perhaps? The sleeves are even held out, which seems like they'd fall down even with pressure, but I dunno.

if it actually means something to you, get it done right.

if the burbs of jersey are anything like the burbs of CT, then find a sports memorabilia store, and either ask them where they get theirs framed, or at the very least, take a look at how they frame baseball/football jerseys.

A jersey in jersey, haha. Might wanna try capitalization in this particular instance, I was confused.

I just received a framed jersey as a gift. It is attached to the backing with those small plastic things that they use to attach price tags to clothing, so you can barely see them. There is also some sort of stiff cardboard-like material inside the jersey to help it keep its form.

my uncle worked for AMD and got me a signed yellow jersey too. it came in an AMD logo gift bag, just kinda folded up and stuffed in there with some tissue paper on top. and that's where it is today. maybe if LA does his big comeback I'll ebay it.

it's funny, I forget the inscription, but I imagine it going down like this:

my uncle: hey Lance, can you sign it for my nephew? he's really into bike racing
LA: sure, how old is he?
unc: oh, about 40
LA: (speechless)

How are you going to wear your jersey on group rides if it is framed?

I am a picture framer in Baltimore . E-mail amd I can give you good advice and talk to you on the phone. We have framed at least 100 jerseys in hte last few years with cal ripken setting the ironman record and the ravens winning more than losing. You have to be careful where you take it because some frame shops have kids working there who don't care and some havegood experienced framers. I have 2 with 23 years and 2 with 16 years at my shop. The plastic things and stiff board (if it is conservation grade) are the right start. The next thing is UV filtering glass. There are readymade shadow boxes that are good but you have to know what to get. If you get in touch with me I can have my reps find a good shop in your area. Framing is expensive, but good work for an important keepsake is worth it. Expensive framing is still a small expense compared to what we spend on cycling.

I know you posted it. I actually wasn't going to respond with the same thing but I figured I would add that it is a good idea. Maybe if the original poster saw multiple replies saying go to a local sports store that does framing he would see that it is a good idea and lean towards that rather then 10 resposes all with different replies leaving the OP to think all the options are of equal relevance when some are clearly better then others.
