From the official site; "Continuing in the Vuelta ´08 tradition, after two high mountain stages comes a long day of racing over medium-size mountains, bait for the most daring riders and a nightmare for the team of the overall race leader. The 202 kilometre journey from Cullidero to Ponferrada will start off from the town in Asturias and quickly head for the 1st category climb at Somiedo, possibly the hardest one of the way. It won’t be the only one.

At the kilometre 140 mark, the racers must make the 2nd category climb of Los Lobos and the 3rd category climb to Ocero 40 kilometres from the finish line. The race will reach Ponferrada but it will have to return to the city after making a small circuit including the uphill climb of Lombillo, the final trap of a stage not well suited for sprinters."

Current situation; With 60k to go, there is a breakaway of 12 riders who are 12 minutes ahead of the peloton.
