Foo - Foosters - do you like your alarm clock?

Mine just died. :( It's hard to believe that anything so small and mundane has been so underappreciated and has had such a significant impact on my life... I don't know if I'm ready for a new one, yet, but my boss says I need to stop sleeping until 10am.

I HATE mine, but it works and I'm too cheap to buy another one. ;)

Although, I don't even set it anymore during the week, because I pretty much always wake up right when I need to.

I have an internal clock that wakes me up at about 6AM daily. I seldom use an alarm clock. My television has an on/off timer built in. I just set it to come on with the daily news at 6:30 just in case.

I have one that is OK, the battery in the thing is dumbest thing ---- you think battery back up would be to keep clock running when there is no power. This one however only powers on this blinking counter that lets me know how long I've been without power. Good grief - who cares - I just want to have my alarm go off in the morning.

Other than that it's ok, I have a bad habit of shutting the whole thing down versus using the snooze. So I now rely on my phone as back up. I have to physically get up and flip it open and shut it down and so VOILA - I'm up.

Last time mine died (2-3 years ago) I bought one with a CD player. I also got some "relaxing" CDs like "Brazilian Rain Forest" and "waterfalls". I pop one in to go to sleep. It also has 2 alarms. It would be great for two people to have separate alarms, or - in my case, two alarms my "normal time" and my "late time". ;)

I tried out a GPX alarm clock that included "nature sounds." I dug the nature sounds - toucans and monkeys and Zulus and normal bedroom noises like that - but the alarm was so loud, it woke up my kid down the hall and scared the sh*t out of me.

No. And it has nothing to do with how nice a clock it is.

I hate both of my alarm clocks. I have the standard "bbbbbbbbbbbbbbrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnggggggggg" wind type alArm clock that usually gets chucked across the room and another one that is identical to my first one, except it is about 10 times a big. That one never fails to get me up, and once I peel myself from the celing, I'm good to go.

I never think about alarm clocks but since some brought it up. I have one I had when I lived in CA, so pre 1984, another one I got in the early 90's. I also have a new one I just bought because I noticed one of the buttons on my oldest one was sticking so I figured it would break, but it started working again.

I use the alarm on my cell phone. I suppose one could download a beep beep ringtone and use that.

I like my alarm clock, but I need to move it away from the bedside table. I've learned how to turn it off in a semi-sleep state.

Mine is great. It can wake an entire floor. (Literally; it has been done!)

On top of that, I think it was manufactured sometime around 1978, and it came with a phone attached to it (which I've cut out because it's rotary and I never needed it). AWESOME.

You guys are AWESOME! Got some great ideas here. And KT, those atomic clocks are everywhere these days - just looked at Target and Wally-World, who have some crap with the atomic clock feature.

Ironically, I've been wanting to find a particlar atomic wall clock and as simple as it sounds, I can't find one.

In my main living room I sometimes end up staying there kind of late watching tv or playing xbox or something. I stay late mainly because I lose track of time because there is no clock in the room. As its often late, I want a digital one so it can be seen well in the dark.

Nearly all digital atomic clocks I've found are LCD, not LED. LCD is not that good reading in the dark (even when backlit). I can't seem to find a LED digital wall clock with large numbers on the atomic clock category.

The only things I've found that are close are big clocks designed for businesses and such that are hundreds of dollars. I just want something relatively simple, atomic, LED and numbers that are >= 2".

my head is also like that- but to a detriment. I am usually awake between 5 and 6. I don't need to get up until 6:30 or 7... stupid internal clock. i drift back to sleep in time for the alarm to ring. :mad:

but they don't make it any more and it doesn't have a clock actually and finally the radio shack one won't die. The radio shack one is annoying because it is new enough to have daylight savings adjustments programmed into it, but old enought to a) have them wrong since congress redid them a couple years ago and b) not adjustable so I need to do daylight savings 4/yr instead of twice (instead of 0 as was was the intent of the programmers).

Maybe even put a light over it if necessary. Otherwise, you may need to put a desktop LED clock on top of your TV or game console or something. Or, get out the toolkit and make your own!

The analog clock you just showed is "almost" the exact one we just got for the kitchen. I really want digital - analog clock is still going to be hard to read in dark.

I'm probably going to forget the "atomic" requirement and find a decent LED alarm clock. I've already found some I like....I just want one I never have to set. :(
