What do you think about this bike from Kona? Anyone who rides this back and forth to work, or just riding it for fun on weekends? I've just bought one -03 but this white and cold waterystuff called snow has covered the ground since I brought home this beautiful creation here in Sweden. And I can tell you this: I tried to ride the bike a couple of kilometres, but slicks combined with ice on the ground spawned very dangerous situations on the road, despite the lack of traffic.

I almost bought one last year (bought a c-dale instead). Yeah, slicks in the snow ain't much fun. I just put away my winter bike today as the snow is finally gone. Nice bike.

I rode slicks the whole winter here in Minnesota with no problems...

Same here, slicks seem not to collect as much snow... IMHO..

Hmmmm... I tried them and didn't have the traction or control I wanted.

Yeah, my main problem was that they had zero traction and control. Part of it may have been that they were too thin, but I equated bike tires to car tires. I don't drive in snow in low profiles, I don't bike in snow with slicks, I put on knobbies. To each their own.

I also ride a fixie in the winter time, which I think gives me a little more control. Instead of having to depend on brakes to slow me down I can just back pedal. Although I do have to say, in icy conditions, with absence of snow there would probably be some benifit if I had some knobbies...
