Cyclocross - Surly Cross Check Bottom Bracket

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I justed picked up my new Surly Cross Check complete. The bottom bracket is stated in the specs to be Deore however it looks pretty cheap. The left side is just white plastic without much of a cap. the spindle is packed with visible grease that after the 1st ride is full of sand. Is there an inexpensive solution to protect the bottom bracket from taking on water and dirt?

Don't worry about it. It will last awhile, mine outlasted the stock crankset. Actually only the left arm wore out, I was looking for an excuse to get a 165mm set anyway.
