Foo - Name of a psychology test

My little sister is struggling with what she wants to do, she's a Sr. in high school. I know of a test that psychologists and guidance counselors can administer but i forget it's name. It basically asks a battery of questions about interests and the likes, then pairs you up with people who are happy in certain career paths.

It doesn't tell you what you should go do, but rather pairs you with people who respond as you do and are happy in their career field. I think my sister would benefit greatly from this but i cant for the life of me remember what this thing is called and without a name i don't think she's going to go ask her guidance counselor....

Any ideas? Tom?

I think I remember the test you are talking about. I recall it actually suggesting a career path because almost everyone's test came back with "agriculture" as a suggested career path. I could see this happening in Iowa somewhere, but I went to highschool outside of Pittsburgh PA!!

I don't think the MMPI would help find career aptitudes... it's more used for diagnosing clinical disorders!

Meyers-Briggs, the Kiersey Temperament Sorter, or the Jung colour card test, would help her clarify whether she is introvert/extrovert, what her problem solving style is, whether she prefers a structured work environment or something unfettered, and so on. From there she and her counselor can look at potential career areas. But people are so variable between individuals and across time that no standardised test can ever slot us neatly into specific jobs :)

(That being said, I'm INFP on the Meyers-Briggs, which is the Counselor subtype. It fits.)

Then maybe that's not it...

Meyers-Briggs. We did it in my department as a staff building exercise. Showed personality type and why we get along and don't get along with each other. I can see how it can show which type of job/career would fit you best based on your personality type.

Myers-Briggs is cool but more specific to the job market so is the ASVAB the Army gives you for finding out aptitudes. You're not obligated to join up, either.
