Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Is Sunday too early for this? No, of course not.
This is a fairly laid back BF ride to ring in the arrival of the new NorCal BF kits. In other words, 2 hours worth of taking group shots of various combinations ...
Starts at Caltrain Mountain View Station (gather around the courtyard). If you drive there, I suggest not parking in the parking lot (unless you like to pay extra money to the city of Mountain View). There is a parking structure about a block north of Castro at Bryant and Villa.
Where: Caltrain in Mountain View (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Mountain+View+Caltrain+Station&sll=37.406162,-122.10579&sspn=0.011335,0.008562&ie=UTF8&ll=37.394198,-122.076409&spn=0.011337,0.008562&z=16&iwloc=addr&om=1)

Gladiator Option: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/2008-NorCal-BF-Jersey-Ride-Gladiators
When: 10:30 am
Train: From SF, take train 424 (leaves 4th & King 9 am). From SJ, take train 427. Both will arrive ~ 10:15-10:20 am
Distance: < 50 miles
Plenty of places to eat before or after the ride.

haha...I have a feeling this route will consists of at least 5-6 different Starbucks.

Hmmm - Outlaw jersey - maybe we could do a tour of all the rodeo sites in the area (one I know is on the Dublin Grade), or the dirt race tracks like the one on Altamont, or the prisons.....

If we go up Danville Blvd and back, we can hit several Starbucks as well as Peets, and have our choice of pizza places - chief among them Amici's. T'would be a flat ride, but perfect for posing and goofing off.
I even know of several choice ditches that you could roll around in whilst we point and laugh.

Well - I'm "in", too. Here's the deal, though - It'd have to be a late-morning, close to noon start, or else take place on Sunday. Sadly, I'm selling my beloved automobile Saturday morning, and a fellow is coming all the way from Oklahoma City to buy it and drive it home. I kinda have to be around for that. :)

Yep...gotta be Sunday. I'm in logistical Hell for Sat.

Hello Ron?...Are you in charge?
If it doesn't work this weekend (short notice) let's do the long range plan for Maximum photo ops!

If you want the Danville Blvd milk-run, I suppose I can do it. Sunday would be my choice, as well.

It's Tuesday, and the ride planned is Sunday. I guess what I'll do is throw this out there. Start @ Mountain View Caltrain (how conveeeeeenient) ... that's step 1. Now all I gotta do is come up with a route. I'll try to make it a Category 3 or 4 ride (http://www.faqs.org/faqs/bicycles-faq/part1/section-22.html), or at least that is the plan. Hope I won't bore anyone, but at least this will be a somewhat laid back ride. How's that sound for non-committal ... so, anyone still up for it? :D
Oh, I see how it is. You all have you fancy, matching clothing, and now you're all going to go exclusive club about it.
Well fine! I'll start my own club, then! With blackjack! And hookers!

Ok, here's the "laid back" route I came up with, with plenty of opportunity for gladiators to stretch their legs (if wanted).

What do you think? Too laid back? Too much climbing? Not enough climbing?

*** BUMP ***
I guess I'll keep the same venue, and just hope there's room to meet by the little courtyard. I'll also put together a "gladiator" route, for those that want to do that.
Who's coming?
It can be Gladiatorified by adding in Moody Road, Golden Oak Road, and finishing the Summit Springs up the joyous section to the dead end.
It'd be neat if it were a ride, consisting of very little actual riding, where the full roster showed up, all in the new kit. I'd bring along The Big Camera and pretend like I have any skill whatsoever in photographing people. That'd be fun.
Fifty miles and 4000-something feet of climbing with a five-pound camera slung over my shoulder would be un-fun and nerve-wracking as hell, so no. :) Maybe someday.

Just think of it as weight training. :)
I ride a bike that's probably in the 25-30 pound range. It's not the weight I'm worried about.
(Think "whoops!")

Can't you get your hookers to carry the gear? I'm mean - you're sure paying enough........ :innocent:
They're just not reliable or trustworthy. And they're sidewalk-riders.
I think they're going on Craigslist in the morning.

Y'know, being a single parent does create issues. This is another soccer weekend - it's tough to bail on too many of these when I'm the coach.:innocent: Next weekend I'll definitely be there for the Lighthouse.
