looking to get a cannondale R1000 2003 on sale. what do you folks think of this bike and parts spec? is 1,299.00 a good price for a new R1000? are there any known problems with the R1000 that i should be aware of? i'm close to a clydesdale @185 pounds, would that be a problem with such a light frame? is there another bike i should be concidering for about the same price? thanks for the help

At 185 you are on the light end of the scale, not heavy, and this bike will handle your weight with no problems. You will find it to be very efficient and responsive.

I have the exact same bike and I can assure you that you won't regret it... (I'm a bit biased here... :D ) Concerning the specs, I don't think you can get better a that price since you also get the same frame (CAAD7/Optimo) as the higher Cannondale bikes. Mine came with Ultegra Shifters/brake levers instead of 105 like specified on their web site. I bought it last August and didn't get any problem.

Good luck,

Martin

I just bought an R2000 (04) which is full ultegra and the same frame you are looking at. I weigh about 180lbs and I can promise you that the frame won't be a problem for you. It is a stiff bike and transfers power very well to the road. Don't worry about all that crap about harsh ride; it rides very smooth for aluminum and I don't see a problem with it for even long distances. Climbs like a cat (wish I was as good as the bike). The price you quoted seems very reasonable to me. Good luck!
