lol thanks for askin! sorry I've been posting updates in the whatcha doin thread- because it didn't involve digging to find this one :)

I left the interview this morning feeling really good about it. Its a very talented team with a lot of potential for growth. I felt my presentation went really well- I was prepared, articulate...Good interactions were going around the room- I felt the reaction to my presentation was a little unclear, though. Hoping my talent fits their need.

Any rate, about 4PM I received a call from the executive director, informally, to suggest I should take some time to look at housing while here if I haven't had the opportunity yet (feeling good after the interview, that is what I did all day!) She said the information is going through HR and I should hear a final decision early next week.

so.

OOOOHHH! This sounds positive! Congratulations!

Congrats! If you miss family and friends, you always have FOO.
(Somehow I don't think you'll have a problem making friends :D)

My niece had an interview with Google out here in CA on Friday too.
She should hear back Monday.

Congrats on the job offer, and surviving the UA experience.:D

Smart thinking on telling them you will get back to them next week. You now have a nice, hard decision to make. Those sorts of decisions are best not made on the spur of the moment but after some thought.

In that case, even if you miss friends, you could always hop on a plane every now and then and go visit. And they can visit you in the "big city" ;)
Don't underestimate the investment in your career, especially at your young age.

Cool - that's my haunt (except I'm in the Zürich office)... I'll be in Mountain View again in 2 weeks time though. Wish her luck!

yeah, in my head I wanted to say YES! But I know better.
I was ok until I was flying into the cities, and could see my apartment on the skyline... and started to think about everything going on here.

I think I have to do it though- Its an incredible opportunity occupationally, financially, and lifestyle-wise. I did really like it out there. I'm telling myself I can do anything for a year- so if it doesn't work out, I pack up a truck and head back to the MW. It sure helps to have a small handful of connections, and of course, the boss out there I've worked for a number of years as well.

Now.. how to attack telling the job.. mmhmm.

Job = yes
Lifestyle = yes
job succession = yes

Ah-ha, so this thread is where all the interview information is.

Congratulations, artifice! It does sound like a bit of a no-brainer. As for telling your current job, hopefully they're good people and will be understanding when you tell them what a great opportunity the new job is.

Excellent! Are they offering you some relocation expenses as well? That ought to come with it and could be a point to negotiate.

Big congratulations!

Big congratulations!yes, they are. The relocation package is very reasonable, as well-- does seem a bit strange even to me that everything seems so good - but it really is! too good to be true? :twitchy:

If you have at least a half day to spare the Mt. Evans road may still be open for cars to five miles below the Summit. Bring lots of warm gear. I would not advise trying to bike the last five miles until you are used to the altitude.

On the odd chance it is too good to be true (and it probably will be fine, but you're wise to go into it with your antennae up and twitching), you were correct in saying you could always move right back (or for that matter, look for something else in CO if u wind up loving living there more...).

In any case - as I am sure you already know - leave on the best terms possible with your current gig.

This is very exciting! Good luck on your decision.:thumb:

thanx s! yeah, I actually just started crafting a letter of resignation. I think I'll send it in tomorrow :eek:Wow, sweet! That actually kind of sounds like fun. You type it up on an old manual typewriter, pull the nice paper out, look at it for a moment, then slowly set it down on the table and sign it...

Or just do it the modern way, via email:

"Dear current employer,

:fu:

Sincerely,
artifice j. employee"

One thing you'll find about CO, is that good cycling weather is year round. There may be days in the winter where cycling isn't ideal, but you'll catch quite a few 60 degree winter days. This is Colorado, girl! Ain't no butt cold Minnesota winters around here!

Oh yeah! When I lived in Southeast Denver we went out for Thanksgiving rides in 70 degree sunny weather most years. Watch out for goathead thorns on MUPs such as the Highline Canal. Really, Colorado is one of the greatest cycling destinations in the world!

Learn about skin cream, the ultraviolet in the sun is much more intense, and the dryness of the air can take a toll, too. Keep that pretty face. You'll need more water when biking.

June is the best month for whitewater rafting. Arkansas River was my favorite.

Enjoy it, it's marvelous!

Club Hypoxia all the way! http://clubhypoxia.com/

RMCC is a good group of people as well. http://www.rmccrides.com/

And Team Evergreen: http://teamevergreen.org/

Between the three of those you should be able to book a ride every day of the year. :D

what about during work rides?
you know, the kind where you leave your jacket on the back of your char, then pour fresh, steamy coffee in the mug, leave the computer monitor on- like you're just stepping out for a bit.

then, three hours later.... you actually come back and do work.

Hey, I'm in the DTC... My Wednesdays are the one day I have two hours blocked across the lunch hour. I can do work rides then. (I've been trying, but something always conspires against me. I need the collective peer pressure of other people to get going)

You know, I was doing a bathroom remodel last March up in Nederland about ten minutes away from Eldora Ski area. One of the last days of the job I decited to cut out at noon and get a half day ski pass. I totally got busted, my boss stoped by the job. I told him I left early because I wasn't feeling well. He gave me a look like, "Yea Right"
