I've seen some tour companies run this route but have seen inconsistent pricing and a complete lack of review services.
Anyone done the trip? Comment on good pricing? Particular services I should check out?
I found a service for a two week trek of Mongolia and it was only $850. Why does a three week trip in Tibet and Nepal cost so much more?

Personally, I wouldn't be counting pennies when it comes to traveling in Nepal and Tibet. You know what I mean? http://emoticons4u.com/happy/1452.gif Keep looking for reviews or stories certainly. Yes, sounds like an awesome experience.

Well I happen to be in the area for a while. I'm just looking for a tour service to sign up with.

850 to Nepal? probably to good to be true. A round ticket to China is close to $700. Mongolia is and Tibet need a special permit to go there (different from the chinese visa) so that might add a few bucks more. Besides, Tibet is FAAAR from the main chinese cities which are by the eastern shore.

I am taking a class on china right now and between this thread and that class I really want to take a MTB tour though Nepal/Tibet. I also have a goal to climb Mt Everest before I die.

well i'm in korea right now and round trip is about $950 to get to nepal and back. the reason i ask is because there are so many hits via google. too much to sort through too much the same.
i just wanted to know if anyone had personal experience - maybe a great nepali mountain biker who'll do the tour on the cheap and take you places no one else knows. stuff like that.

There was an article in one of the MTB rags about 5-6 month ago about a group of three that were trying to ride across Tibet. Apparently, it's very difficult for a foreigner to get the necessary travel papers to make the trip. I doubt that the CHICOMS take kindly to trail poaching.
