Cyclocross - Gloves

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Gloves are really pricey.
What gloves do you all find to work well for cx?
I really dont want to blow cash on sucky gloves....
Avoid pearl izumi.
Personally I've never spent more than $30 on a pair of gloves (ther pearls) and to me there wasn't a significant difference between those and the cheapest gloves performance or nashbar sell. The best gloves I've ever had were nashbar super-g's or something like that, cost me $5. Unfortunately the pair I bought is a little big so I don't wear them much but they were fantastic and the palms still look like new, and they quit making them after I bought them. Right now I've got a pair of salsa gloves that I got for $8 (for some reason), and they're fine.
I tend to wear out the palms of gloves pretty quickly- the shortest life was the pearls, they lasted maybe two months, I just pretty much ran through a pair of the salsa's and I think they lasted maybe 6 months. I've had decent luck with the cheapest performance brand gloves too.
Maybe someday I'll try a pair of pricier gloves again, but honestly unless the comfort was significantly better, I see no reason to.

I'd consider loosening up the death-grip you've got on the handlebars if you're wearing out gloves in 2 months.
I pull down ~10,000 miles a year and the only reason I get new gloves is because I don't like to go more than one season on a pair of gloves.

I'm not. I wore out 1 pair of a particular brand in 2 months.

Good for you. You're better than me.

I have had the best luck with Fox, but only the ones I bought at Cyclegear (motorcycle accesory supplier). The ones I got from Performance were junk and started to fall apart on the second ride.

I've been *really* happy with my SixSixOne gloves ... I chewed up two or three pairs earlier on in the season from other companies (XC riding, I only use full finger gloves) but these things have been going strong for months and months.
I have these: http://sixsixone.com/Catalog_661Bike.aspx?id=e9a457c0-8e09-4019-93b6-9e6d985106cb&product=2307489b-8c10-4e0a-8e62-6290260a3910
They've been great all year but once the cold starts to bite I'll probably get something from the same company that's a bit thicker.

+1 on the Fox, but mine from Performance were just fine. They will see their second season of CX and XC this fall.

I have been riding a pair of the full finger pearl izumi gel-lite gloves for almost 2 seasons now and the only reason I am replacing them is because they smell so bad. I want a different pair that I can use for cx and get dirty so I was thinking of trying the Fox sidewinder or dirtpaw gloves. Does anyone have any experience with these?

specialized full fingers do the trick for me.
Salsa full fingered. If you don't want to spend cash, get full-fingered gloves for sure. When those November races come around, you're going to wish you had them. Full fingers don't hurt or help when it's warm, so they're a great buy.
