Foo - Picture thread: Battle scars!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Let's see some road rash! I'll start.

Dang! Those look great!
I don't have any recent ones, but can I post pics of purposely done scars?
Dam!
<Throws up a protective "spell>
I had my LAST bout of road rash <knocks on wood> a couple months ago and am still sporting a few nice red marks on my legs, surrounded by a multitude of prikker bush scrapes when I decided to venture of a trail and discovered why no one went there ..... Yowser!

Yeah. Didn't make my saving throw last month when I tried hucking off a three foot jump, got torn up, cellulitis, admitted to the hospital for four days. Have not made the opportunity to ride singletrack since. IV antibiotics = not fun.

<whispers>so far this year I've just had a few minor spills and buzzing a small downhill full of prikker bushes ... winter's coming though and I have fun out in that

Crashing sometimes is kinda fun. Getting injured, not so much. Sux hard.

I must not be riding hard enough. I haven't crashed in over a year. And the last time I crashed really didn't count. I flopped over while trying to unclip.

Not too bad, but these are from an over-the-handlebars face plant:

Damn, man....! Just, OUCH!
eeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww!
gee i wish i had had presence of mind enough to take a photo of my last injury- even a mountain biker guy who saw it right after said, that looks bad! It was a nasty crash that skinned my elbow, needed stitches, got infected, antibiotics...there's still a piece of gravel in there! i have an appointment on wednesday with a surgeon...consultation to see if they want to remove it. Maybe i'll get photos of the surgery...
I was sitting on the side of the road pulling dirt gravel and grass out of my eye while waitin for the sag wagon on that one. I was afraid my bike was totaled. bent the bars tore the tape off put a vertical hop in my front wheel. broke my left hand. it wasnt fun
Man, some of you people get ****ed up on your bikes.
Indeed.
This is why I've never raced...well, that, and I suck.

Must preface these by saying, they weren't caused by road rash... or biking in general. I had AVN or avascular necrosis (like Floyd Landis)
and the docs all said if nothing else, cycling helped keep my dying bone round longer and staved off the pain until surgery better than nothing at all.

two months or so ago now..."that hole goes all the way through my lip" makes twice for me in the same spot. Sometimes I just don't understand.
Mazaev, OUCH!!! What happened?
Was going downhill at about 25 when a whole family suddenly darted out from behind a parked car. Had my rear brake disconnected at the time, slammed the front and went over, landing on my temple and basically stopping with my face. Had one of those scenarios, like in the movies.. BAM... woke up in an ambulance and passed right back out, BAM, woke up while someone's stitchig me up, passed right back out, BAM, woke up inside an MRI machine, passed right back out. Finally woke up in the hospital bed. This was the next day:

From May, after a crash that occurred at a standing sprinmt somewhere aroud 28 MPH. I lost traction on the rear wheel on some grit on the road and went to the pavement so fast, my head spun.

Rookie.
Come back when you draw blood.
you guys are still good to look at, even not fully healed....if that cheers you up! lol....mazaev though that's some mouse over your eye!!!
I wish i had taken a photo of my elbow...you could see the BONE...ewww!!! and there was HUGE hemotoma on my right hip. And there was blood everywhere...
who needs horror movies???
omg; hematoma - yes....you just reminded me of the worst one I ever had. No blood, but.....did an endo/faceplant but my fr wheel turned and my lower abdomen landed on my handle bar grip (only - no grips at the time, as fate would have it:rolleyes:). I was so so lucky I didn't end up impaled....Let's just say 40% of my body was dark purple for about two-three weeks afterwards.... Didn't want to freak out the S.O. so I had to be creative about staying fully clothed at all times...:innocent:

Not mine but a guy I went MTN biking with this August.

His front tire landed in a wash out while decending on a steep gravel downhill, causing him to bail at about I'd guestimate to be 25-30 kms per. This happened the first ten minutes out.
Three hours of intense riding later ....

He races X-country MTN bike. Pretty fast rider, but apparently he crashes quite a bit.
holy infection, batman
Yup, he had an infection. Got it treated and just recently took a good spill, from what I heard. So much so that he had to miss the Squeezer, a big off road race at the same place we went to that day.

2008 Cannondale falls over while I'm standing next to it and the large chain ring bites me on the ankle.

extreme closeup WAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
grisly!!!
regarding the hematoma...the latest one caused this weird lump on the side of my thigh, dr said it was just a collection of fluid etc, under the skin. It's still numb a little...i wonder if that will ever get back to normal. It looked like a saddlebag...really gross....i felt like saying to everyone "it's a bruise not a saddlebag!"

The hematoma will go away over time. I had one on my shin when I slip on a step and landed on the next step. Major ouch and incredibly gross to look at. I think mine took nearly a year to go away, but it was the size of a baseball.

I have no pics ... but someone i was riding with crashed against my rear wheel.
She has a busted elbow that needs stitches (her sister picked her up at the hospital)
However, the extent of my injuries go just as far as busted balls.
No point of taking a picture of that.
well, not for here, anyway!
I'll bet there are some AMA journals out there that'd be interested....
