Long Distance Competition/Ultracycling, Randonneuring and Endurance Cycling - Knoxville Double Century Sep. 20th

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Anyone on here riding the Knoxville Double? I've ridden it four times and really like it. Had to miss it last year due to schedule conflict with Interbike, and happy to be going back this year.

For those that don't know, here's the link: http://www.quackcyclists.com/Kx08/KnoxvilleDC.htm

201 miles, 12,500 feet of climbing with the start/finish in Vacaville, CA (east of San Francisco).

I checked the Registered Riders list and didn't see anyone I know from the forum, but with forum names and real names, it's easy to miss someone and not know it.

Anyway, if you'll be there, see you Friday Evening, sometime on Sat. or at the Triple Crown breakfast on Sunday morn.

True jobob,

I was surprised too, but whatever . . .

I wonder what part of "with the start/finish in Vacaville, CA" is difficult to understand?

Rick, I won't be there. My next and last double for this year is Bass Lake/Powerhouse.

Great Dante,

See you there! Bass Lake is my last double for the year unless Lynn gets the Hemet Staff ride organized. I've never ridden Bass Lake before, so it should be fun. I hear they have great climbs and excellent food!

Agreed longslow,

The Quacks are the best! And, really, based on the CA doubles that I've ridden, the Knoxville is still my favorite ever.

I rode the first part with Tom Parkes, but dropped him on the 2nd climb. From the 2nd checkpoint to the finish I rode with Terri Boykins, since she and I ride at pretty much the same pace.

I think we finished about 9:30 PM, after a 4:45 AM or so start. Lovely ride, great weather all day, including a very well timed cloud cover just as Terri and I started up the steep part of the Knoxville Grade.

Did you stay for the breakfast on Sunday Morning? Chuck Bramwell did his usual wonderful job of inspiring everyone, and making us feel happy to be double-century cyclists. Frank (Garfield) Neil did his usual excellent job with the stats, and Lynn Katano and Eric Smith kept the dinner hot until the last of us finished!

Great Double!
