Recumbent - I just had an idea..... Gulf Coast, MS

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Does anyone here (with a tadpole) live in the Mississippi Gulf Coast area that would be willing to let me try out one. I'd really like to get a feel for one and see it up close (I'm 5'3" just so you know).

And what is the x-seam measurement (waist to floor?)?

For those of you who might ask..... one bike store in a 50-75 mile radius and NO Recumbents (and no I don't have a car....I ride)!

Here is the way Hostelshoppe recommends measuring X-seam, which is slightly different from RANS' method. It probably won't make a lot of difference in the end, but it wouldn't hurt to try it both ways.

I could see maybe a half inch difference between the two which shouldn't be a problem with an adjustable seat.

You said you did not have a car but if you ever find yourself in Jackson Mississippi there is a great LBS that has mainly recumbents and usually 4, 5, or more trikes in stock. Their web page is ridesouth.com.

What town are you in?

Wondering if they have used trikes..... or something in the price range of $1200-$1500. Would really prefer less then that but it looks like that's about the minimum even for a used tadpole.

Don't remember seeing used trikes. However, I have bought two used recumbents from them. You can sometimes find used trikes in the "for sale" sections of:
http://catrike.yuku.com/

Knew about bentrider but not about the catrike; this one looks like a good one.

There is a factory tour the weekend of 8 November sponsored by both Catrike and Bacchetta and Power On Cycling.

You can visit the Catrike factory and test ride some trikes. It might be time for a family vacation.
