Cat 3/4 crit tonight. I've never so heavily dominated a race. I was off the front solo on four different attacks, for 2 or 3 laps each. One time I was caught just before a prime and jumped the two guys who caught me and won a t-shirt for my wife.
Last lap, 45s all-out attack. Two guys went with me but couldn't hold my wheel at the beginning. Came through about 10 meters ahead, coasting.
This was my first race on the new Madone, but I won it last time I raced it on the Ritchey too...
It's been a good season. That gets me 4 wins and one 2nd in nine races. Time for some weight loss.
If there was any question, I'm a crit racer. Fo sho. Now I just need that Cat 2 upgrade.

The cradle is at work. Avg was 323W for the race. Peak of around 1450W, IIRC -- but I'm sure that was the prime.

Nice win WR. Are these uscf sanctioned races or twilights but they use catagories? If they are uscf race on weeknights then I am truly jealous of Texas.

Then get your jealousy ready to over flow. In TX during the spring/summer, there are USCF weeknight crits in Dallas (Tues), Fort Worth (Wed), Houston (Wed), Austin (Thurs) and San Antonio (Thurs, I think). Plus the usual weekend races.
Oh yeah, don't forget the velodromes in Frisco (Dallas) and Houston, they usually have Friday night racing unless there's a big weekend meet.
Of course now we're getting into cx season, things are a bit more sparse - there are weekly races in Austin and Houston but DFW is cx-less. Boo hoo.
And, way to go Waterrockets, I want to ride that course next year it looks like a ton of fun!

Yeah, USAC, but not long enough for points. The local reps do allow the 4s to count Driveway Crit points from two races (since it's 3/4).

No prob, Marc Mayo helped me with the pack tenderization a bit.
I'm not going to do anything intense again until Tour de Gruene on 11/2. So, if you wanna get in some easy miles the lunch rides are where it's at. We'll probably do a lot of them on the RunFar course, from AMD. Still just around 1 hr rides, just not fast.

Yep, graphs first thing in the morning :D
The results were just posted, and the Cat 3 state crit champ finished right behind me -- I thought it was him, but wasn't sure.
It does frustrate me that they had to postpone the State RR, because I'm hanging up the intervals until mid-November now.
Yay! Good job. Good feeling isn't it?
How many points do you need?

10 points to go. I was planning to get 8 on Sunday until Ike rolled through. I was going to go to the reps 2 points short, claiming my Driveway crit results should indicate I'd get the next 2 if I had time to race. I haven't finished out of the top 10 since March.
I've got until March 30 to get 8 points though, and there are a bunch of races starting in February. If I get to Cat 2, then I'll feel comfortable going to support Racer Ex if he wants to race category next year. As it is now, I'm stuck in M35+ 1/2/3 or category racing.

Haha, very true. I love the Driveway. I wish I would have raced and ridden this summer, but I had too many other things going on. I am going to bust my ass this winter so I come back hard for my 3's upgrade. :D :D

Great riding WR.
Seems like you put together a pretty good season, too.
Congrats all 'round!
Winning is always a good feeling.
But winning the big-boys race is even more so.
Move up and take your 5" and 1' cat1 power levels into some of the easier crits next year for a chance at the biggest stake of the day.
Good job.

Not to make light of WR's win. But one day. One stinking day. I hope to post a "I Won" thread. But if it takes 763 average watts, it may be a long time coming. I can barely squeeze enough watts to light a tiny capsule bulb.

Just be aggressive, and you'll get smarter and stronger. Learn what your true strengths are, and exploit them. Learn what your weaknesses are, and train them. Last year, I was just a bunch sprint guy, sprinting for 13th, and getting 15th.
I've said it a bunch of times, but for me to learn that my 1' power was several rows above my 5" power has transformed my racing. Last year, I would have waited for the bunch sprint, and gotten 3rd. Inverting that final minute, so the sprint is at the start, has really made all the difference for me.

I need to chant my daughter's cheer in my head during the race: "Be-aggressive. B-E-aggressive."
Thanks, WR.
My intensity and training will be a little different next year. I intend to move to a Cat2 by year's end. I know I just moved up to Cat3, but I also know that my training can be better, and my racing can be better/smarter. I've been told a bunch that I definately have the engine. I just need to stoke the fire correctly.
Is this national Pirate Day? WR keeps aaaaarghing.

Is it National Speak Like a Pirate Day already?
:)
The fact that you won a race that short is pretty impressive. Its typically really hard to even slide of the front for a lap or two when you're talking about a race that is <30 minutes.
Congrats!
