A little poll question to help me evaluate some bikes. Theoretically, if all things are relatively equal (good fit, mid 80's, Columbus tubing, friction shifting, 7-speed, high end Campy components, etc) can I get opinions as to the preference among Battaglin, Bottecchia, and Ciocc. How would you characterize their ride and quality? Any personal experience would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

All things being equal, browse a few for sale and see which ones still have decals/stickers and paint remaining. I'd say they're close enough that condition counts a lot.

It's almost just a matter of personal preference since if "all things are equal" all three of these makes will have the classic Italian ride quality. I've owned a Bottecchia and still own a Ciocc, never owned a Battaglin. I think the differences are pretty minor, so it's got to be a case-by-case decision. Bottecchia offered the greatest range of product, so you could more easily find one built of Aelle or lesser tubing and fitted with 2nd or 3rd string components. But if comparing apples to apples...all 3 can be fine apples. But why stop with those 3, there are hundreds of Italian marques just as worthy of consideration.
(but y'know, I love my Ciocc )
