heres the deal. i got a new full suspension mountain bike about 2 years ago. last summer i rode 20-30 miles a day. the problem is, i did it all on the road. so ive been looking to get a road bike this summer. i am really stuck on the cannondale r800 double. it just looks so amazing. i know i have to ride them first, but this is basically what i want as of right now having never ridden a road bike. i am 15 years old and am looking to spend around 1000-1500 bucks. i am serious about riding and am not some kid who will say look at my cool bike that i never ride. what are your suggestions for a good road bike for me? thanks.

Theres alot of good entry level bikes in that price range. I would suggest going to a few local bike shops and asking questions check pricing and test ride a few bikes once you have narrowed it down. The Cannondale is a nice bike.

I think the reason more folks have not chimed in here, is the fact that SHERPA hit the nail on the head. There is really no better advice to give. So, get out there to those bike stores and get busy! After you have had several test rides of several different bikes, you'll most likely want to come back here and ask some specific questions that come up as a result of those test rides. (frame material differences, component choices, etc...)

Have fun with the process. Take your time to insure you get a good feel of the market.

Post a pic once you have your new ride! :D

Lots of good bikes to be had for that range. Here's 2 I'd look at:

Steel - Lemond Buenos Aires - may be tough to find for less than 1500.
Aluminum - Douglas Fusion over at Colorado Cyclist - check it out. Good combination of bang and buck.

Look at Felt and Jamis. Usually you get highly upgraded drivetrains for less than you would pay for a comparable "name" brand.
But like everyone will tell you try several brands and get the one that feels the best to you.
