Just got my first road bike, a 1981 miyata 210 in glorious racer red! Mostly original components i think. Only problem i've noticed so far is shifting the front gear doesn't work when the chain is at an extreme angle like the smallest cog in back or whatnot. Anywho, the plan is to use this bike to get around on a daily basis, so i want to upgrade it to the best of my ability with $100, no way more than $150 as i am a starving college student. What would you do? Thanks!

I kind of like it.

Coming from my generation, the Miyata's were very fast touring bikes. Nimble and quick with their long frame-geometry. Nice find! Enjoy.

Thanks guys, glad to hear the bike was built well and is fast! Think i'm gonna spend the upgrade money on a rear rack for my backpack/cameragear and a new saddle since there isn't a need for repairs right now!

I'm out of racks, but I'll send you a saddle for shipping. I have a padded one off a Raleigh Rapide and a Vetta Turbo leather. Nothing fancy, but free for you. Use your $100 on better things.

Ride.

Thanks Rob, your random act of kindness made my week! Will get pics up with the new saddle and other updates asap.
