Greetings,
I posted a thread hear about one month ago, asking the question "if I am ready for a CAT V race". Some of you told me to “go for it” and others were not so supportive. Well I did my first Crit tonight at El Dorado Park in long beach. The first lap averaged 26 mphs which did not feel very fast considering I was sitting about 10 riders back. After the first lap it started raining (rained the whole race) which slowed things up in the corners and forced me to sprint out of every corner to regain speed. This too did not seem too bad due to the fact that I have been doing a lot of training Crit sprints - thanks to the advice of some of you. Anyway, I stayed at the front of the pack the whole race and attempted to get the second prime lap; however as it turns out I attacked way to early and got passed by about 10 riders before the finish line. The same thing also happened to me at the finish of the race, so it seems that I need to sit in the pack a bit longer before I attack next time. So thanks to all who supported me and encouraged me to give racing a shot, and I will keep you posted as to my success through out the season.
